it was ash who>>>> "back peddled away from there initial reason for deleting it in the first place" He made another statement sometime later, where he said that people shouldn't remove the egr, and that it was actually beneficial, which I believe is correct. My zeds egr was removed long ago, I didn't plan on reinstating it, but i should have replaced it with the new one I brought (not long after removing the dead one) when the engine was out recently, and not because I'm worried about failing an emission test, the car will not fail that test.
Where? Where is this other statement? Might be beneficial in some aspects but just reading that I'd far rather have it removed , rather not have a dead engine lol
Sift through fact and opinion about that post and make your own conclusion. The point was not to focus in on that one entry but rather the replies to it and especially the guys who still pass with flying colours without it. Not everything Ash Powers has stated I take as Gospel but you have to admit, he is one clever man when it comes to these cars.
Just to add a useless addition to this thread. I removed it because it makes plenum pulls a total PITA. Much easier without it, plus it was blocked and useless.
same here, with egr in, plenum pull more difficult, because of the pipes that bolt up into the underside of the plenum..... to me, the egr, under plenum hoses, prvr and aiv are all just additional failure points for your engine.....so more potential boost and vac leaks, and debatably (spelling?) redundant technology.....
I removed my EGR when it failed. When cruising at speed the egr valve cycles and when my valve failed the car developed a slight stumble while cruising at speeds above 80ks.
I did read quite an explaination somewhere about EGR and why it was actually beneficial to the engine operation. Sounded quite plausable at the time. Went into detail about lowering combustion temps and how it is used as a knock prevention measure. Having said that mine was blocked and screwed up. It succumbed to my spanner
