BDE Rebuilt VTC Intake Cam Gears

I'm in the same position as Mikey. I just replaced mine with a spare set I bought, as I needed the Z back on the road ASAP (& low on funds).

 

I changed out the O-ring in my stockies from the engine gasket kit

will that do the trick? I mean, where is it leaking from, gotta be the O-ring right?

 

Nah, have a look at the back of the gear, you'll see where it is pressed together.

 

how much do you want for a set of gears?
I dont have a set to refund.....

I understand that they won't be this price again.

However, in an employment environment which means I could possibly be facing a 20% pay cut for an extended period of time, I need to get Warwick over and done with first. If the Z survives Warwick without any dramas I can then commit. It would be fiscally irresponsible for me to commit before Warwick.

If the GB has to proceed before Warwick, then as good a deal as this is, I unfortunately have to count myself out. If circumstances change (such as the 4 day week being delayed or cancelled) in the immediate future I will let you know.

 

BDE Gears Experience

Real world experience for all those fence sitters...

I've had the BDE gears on my modified Z (high lift cams, etc) for about 2 months now and they're working very well. I wouldn't say that the VTC rattle is gone 100%, but it's at the point where it's mostly unnoticable. My stock gears were REALLY noisy with the high lift cams. When the engine is first started cold a very slight rattle is discernable but dies down within 30 seconds.

none of this it could be this much but might be this much if this happens when hell freezes over lol!!!

your first post is (at least to me) a little confusing and vague on price, particurly when its quite a big dollar item......not having a go, just stating the facts as i see it, as a interested potential buyer.....

if you could either post up here or pm me if a final price on these gears, with postage to perth wa, and without me having a core to return, that wold be great. an eta (approx) would be great as well.....if it matters, my car is a 1989 tt

for those who have not dealt with rob before, he has always been a great supplier when i have dealt with him in the past, and you have no need to worry about the quality of service at his end!

I gave 2 or 3 sets to Chewy a few months ago, he might let them go... I couldn't sell them so I gave them away, silly Chris.

 

while we are ordering from bde, can i get

a pair of the exhaust cam alloy end seals....? from the bde website

hey rob, i will need the spacers but ill worry about that later, for now just order me 1 set of cam gears, and 2 sets (pairs) of the ally half moon exhaust seals...(1 set mine, 1 set for a friend)......chuck it all together in one post bag to me, and bill me for the whole lot....
