Just come back from being pulled over by the cops, and can i say the first time ever been randomly pulled over by the police...

Basically was driving home from uni just then, i see the cop car turning waiting to go on Manning road, was driving minding my own business, then yup, straight on my tail, lights on, this happened within the space of 1 min, anyways pull into BP servo on manning road (for those of you who are in WA, quite a busy servo), lots of ppl watching, etc

Anyways out jump 3 from the vehicle, i thought i was done, lisence check, the usual....Basically they grilled me for 10 minutes, asking all the questions about the car, thats before they asked me to open the bonnet, thought "oh s**t", thought i was a goner. Some of u might know i've taken off my bonnet release mechanism and its only secured by the bonnet pins, so anyways opened the bonnet up, they had a good ol looksy, started asking more questions, one then said along the lines of....

"basically we can give you a yellow sticker right now and be done with it"

By then i was like, shit, i asked him for what, he said no bonnet release mechanism and in turn the bonnet and the plates on the left hand side and not in the middle, they didn't bother checking anything else, thank god, was counting my lucky stars by then, and let me off with a warning, he also mentioned along the lines of...

"Our boys always see this car weekly driving up and down here, if you get pulled over again and these 2 things aren't done, except a yellow, it has now been recorded"

So yeh, was pretty lucky today, but i think thats another WA Z off the road, until i have time to fix these little things up, but having 6 weeks of uni left ever, might just concentrate on finishing and fix the stuff up later on, shouldn't take too long anyways....

plates on the side are not a yellow sticker offence so i would argue that...

still more then visible from the front and from the speed cameras

its a real bugger and an inconvenience hey

on wed night we were pulled over and hassled by the police in a old pos lancer.

i really dont understand the mentality of the police, instead of pursuing 'actual' crime they pick on people for no apparent reason..

although most cops are fine to talk to, and they let u off, i think there ego's are way out of control

You know what they say Miksta...

Preventative maintenance is always the better option in a Zed. Or anything for that matter. Get em fixed now instead of paying the price later.

    Just my 2c

with zeds.. alot of cops see them and know its 18 years old and its obviosly got things wrong with them.. so they see a p'plater or someone young driving it.. they will pull u over to try score something...

EDIT: im not saying all cops are like that... thank god most of them arnt.. but u get some of those cops who just hassle you because they have nothing better to do..... or they cant be bothered doing their jobs..

    Ya

Well its bright orange, turbo, private plates, had to get pulled over sooner or later...

These cops were decent, i think what got me off the yellow was that i was confident and replied back answers just as fast as they were firing em at me, and my attitude was good, could have been angry or what not and prob would have made things worse

Yeh will take the time to fix the little things, just not worth the risk now...

    Lucky...

You're lucky they didn't give you an Orange sticker mate... :)

Nice escape. I've had a few close ones in my time just like that...Sometimes you get lucky and the cop/s won't know too much about the car...my favourite feature of the zed is the location of the air intake and BOV's.

Other things like rims size can be worked around...end of the day it just depends on the car and the condition you keep it in.

I just hate the fact that they pull you over when you aren't breaking any of the road rules and on the outside there is nothing physically wrong with the car like busted tail lights etc...basically they had no reason to pull you over and they only did it because the car stands out...

Descrimination...there has to be some sort of law on this one...you might be able to complain if you got their names...it's bordering on harassment.

    Cheers
    Rob.

I got pulled over last weekend on Sunday arvo for no reason, 2 cops got out one asked me for lisence and breath test, the other did a vehicle inspection. Lucky he only walked around the car and had a quick look didn't even open the bonnet.

    damn good point

BUT surley if they have the right to do a "RBT" or even random licence check.... there's nothing stopping them

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    Good to hear, but....

might be another 'smart' reason for you crazy WA folk to finally start putting your number plates in the centre where they belong instead of that gay 'ricey' fashion over there where you's put the plates on the side of your front bar. hahahaha. :sorry:
    lets all say together now:
    ...... Symmetry is good ......
    great work kids. :p;):D:zlove:

Alpha Romeo seem to be allowed

The ADR's state that the plate needs to either be in the middle or as close as possible. I can drag out the exact definition if you want, but it doesn't have to be centred.

yeah as pointless as 2 identical cars in the same family :whatever::whatever:

never understood why people get big FK off intercoolers and front bars to increase the airflow then stick a big plate in front of it..

    very lucky man ;)

isnt it that your suppose to be able to see the plates at 45degrees from each side? otherwise its a defect ???? that was wat i was always led to belive. but if the vehicle came out like that (alpha's, evo's) then it is legal because they came out like that

anyhow doesnt matter change it looks better in the centre :p:p:p:p:p:p

    hahahah

Well dunno if i have much choice anymore, since its now been "recorded" as plates should go in the middle, but yeh i think i might do some reasearch to find out 100% what is legal and illegal, i thought it was ok having them on the side, must be on the left as ppl said previously for speed camera's, etc

Might have to get a permit for that then hahah :p
