    Update.

Diff has been finished and installed back into the car.

Decided to try out the Powertix ultralight coilovers, so out came the Bilsteins.
The build quality of the coilovers is excellent.

The new ride height set at the back, any lower and my jack wont go under the diff.

Have done a whole lot of other work as well but nothing exciting, new steering rack installed, A/C system from low km 97 model installed, 1/2 wired a new alarm.

Engine has been machined/balanced so wont be long until that is back together and back in the car, can't wait!

Due to unforeseen circumstances I'm now putting the motor together my self. Half the battle is finding all the parts since I have moved house quite a few times since the motor was stripped down. Here's a few pics.

Swiss cheese crank, bottom end balanced with scat rods and ACL pistons, locked down with ARP studs.

Heads good to go with 1mm oversize exhaust valves, and some port work to the intakes.

Heads bolted down with APR studs. JWT R4+ cams and JWT springs, stripped and cleaned all the lifters. Ported oil pump from Tech@EPR.

SZ baffled sump with trap doors. Holds 1 quart more oil than the stock sump.

That is about as far as I'll get for a while my lower intake gaskets have gone walkabout.

well done on putting it together yourself!

Much more fun doing it yourself, you have left of the thermostat housing water pipe! Your going to need a cut down spanner now to make that work.

I can confirm the sump fits no prob ..clears everything

its a touch lower than the cross member

so you went stock intakes and 1mm on exhaust.... ?

I thought the sump needed a hammer to install?

that was the crank scraper close to the crank .

As far as clearance externally all good

My first attempt at an engine assembly. So far so good just taking my time and checking everything.

I agree. I'm glad that I'm doing it myself now, I was just been lazy.

I Put the housing on just before and my small ring spanner had no problem getting on it from the front, but yes would of been easier to put on before the head went on.

Good to hear about the clearance for install. I did have to take out and trim the plate that bolts down inside though as the oil pick up wouldn't go through the hole but no biggie.

In hindsight I wish I got 1mm oversize for both but at the time when they were getting rebuilt I wasn't very cashed up (about 2 years ago now :0 was still an apprentice) I remember Eric and Rollin also saying that there wasn't much to gain by getting the intakes done, but good gains in the exhaust valves. Not willing to wait around on a machine shop now I just want this thing in the car already!

What sort of track use? If it's circuit the HICAS needs to go.

Plan on getting out to Lakeside and QR.

HICAS is totally gone have a lock bar in there. Was looking at getting the driftworks kit though and ditching the ball joints.

Been slowly working away on the engine here and there between working to much.

    To Date-
Z1 adjustable exhaust cam gears, BDE intake cam gears, RameyZ idler studs, one of them blue belts can't remember what its called.. and cam covers installed. Just about finished really just need to bolt turbo's on and a few other minor things.

    Progress of late.

Got the die grinder onto my dump pipes and matched them to my turbo housings. They weren't far off but now they have a good smooth transition.

Turbo's now attached! Exhaust manifolds, turbo housings and dump pipes ceramic coated. Ceramic coating was farking expensive I hope it was worth it.

Got some nice intakes from SZ.

How she looks at the moment, a few new bits- Z1 throttle bodies and ATI Damper

It's almost ready to go in just need to bolt on the ancillaries.

Not sure what I'm going to do about injectors yet, I think I'll run it in first with the jecs 750's I already have as the ecu is already tuned. Then maybe some top feeds and E85

I think that's just my poor garage lighting not showing the real colour. They were coated in the black stuff.

I didn't get the compressor's done, mainly I am wanting to keep under bonnet temps as low as possible.

A few before and after pics with better lighting.

    ok cool

I went with black ceramic on the dumps as well as it gets pretty hot at the housing ,wasn't sure how the silver ceramic would hold over time

I did the comp cover only to help shield from the manis
