he said 300 wins hands down against 350, in a straight line yeah...

So? How can one engine outhandle another? lol.

Taking a vg30dett out of a 300zx and dropping a vq35 in is not going to make a 300zx awesome on the track. If anything it will make the 300zx handle worse since it will upset the weight distribution.

Main point still stands: vg30dett is superior to vq35de. I still don't understand why the next Z-car is slower than the previous Z-car..

Im not disagreeing with anything you just said, i wasnt talking about a 300 with a vq35 in it, i was refering to a stock 300 vs a stock 350, on a track would be close... i dont think i can say it any clearer, the comment was made that a z32 would win against a z33 hands down, and i agree in a straight line, but it would be a closer race on a track...

you still don't get it do you.. no one is talking about a 300 vs a 350z on the track, this topic is about putting a VQ35 in a z32

Ah fair enough. Yes, would probably be close on the track, provided it's a fairly twisty / slow track. If it has reasonable straights or long corners, I still think the 300zx would edge out.

For example, Honda's Civic type Rs have been used with moderate success on really slow, tight tracks, but obviously don't compete on anything with any kind of acceleration opportunities.

I you where going to go to all this trouble. You would be crazy not to put the Nissan V8 in it instead. IMO this conversion is pointless.

Lol, do we need to have this conversation AGAIN? I've already proved you wrong before, the TT does not "just" beat a 350z, it beats it quite convincingly from any speed.
I remember you went on about that Top Gear footage of the race, first of all, they raced the heavier 2+2 against the 350z, and second of all, it was not 400m, it was more like 200m and the 300zx with a bad start still edged ahead easily, it would be much further ahead if the race was 400m. It would be further ahead still, if the race was even longer.

And to "add some snails" doesn't mean shit, I could also add bigger snails to the TT, your 350 won't have a chance. End of the day, if you want the 350 to beat the TT, you'll need to spend a lot more. Dollar for dollar, 300zx TT will ALWAYS be faster than a 350z.

I'm going to have a stock, clean TT soon, so please, if you have any friends in Melbourne with a stock 350z, i'll gladly show them how the TT "just" beats a 350z.

Nissan ran their 350 with the VQ35DE and a pair of snails in the Super GT for the 2007 season. After the 07 season they started to use the VK45DE, because...

    Source:

I assume for the '10 season they will run the 370 with the same setup, if not run the 370 with the VQ37VHR for one season to prove it, as they did with the 350.

Interesting, Nissan replaced the Skyline R34 GT-R's RB26DETT with the VQ30DETT for their Super GT Skyline R34 GT-R in their 03 season. I can only assume it was because of the engines weight, as both the RB and VQ are able to put out large amounts of power when tuned correctly.

just dont forget to get the ONLY gear box that marries up to the engine you purchased ;)

remember, each engine/gear box package links ONLY to its designated partner

    ...apparently

I still question why he has it sitting so high, and seems to ignore every suggestion on the thread on how to make it sit that little bit lower.
