Yeah fellas i got an NA manual... its about 50/50 actually... seen a lot of 5 spds..

this car seems like a nice example.. only done 157xxx, mine just hitting the 200,xxx but still like a new car...

at 157,xxx this car has only ever done 10k of milage per year... VERY LOW...

i would recommend this car for ppl who want a trouble free, genuine example in original nic.. or for some 1 wanting a nice car to convert to TT.. as the body and km's are very low it be a nice donor car.

Guyz..Newbie query...if you buy a ZED from other states...is it a lot of hassle to get it re-registered and complied or is it just a matter of paper transfer of ownership...I live in QLD..

    Thanks

    Answer to Questions

Yes a lot of aus specs were manual

I bought this car in Tassy and transported it to SA.

Re registering was very easily done at my local police station, although I am not 100 percent sure in other states.

Usually a check for roadworthiness is all that is required.

    Thanks for that

    Thanks for your comments.

I think the bonus with this car is that it has be owned by two members on this forum.

Can anyone give me any ideas about addition or changes I should make to my ad on carsales? I am new to selling cars privately!

my question would be why would you want to sell ...

... and lose money, after only 12 months ownership ... ??? ..

    My reply

    Good question!

I have another project going on that i need money for to finance.

I guess I paid at the higher end for the car, and i was happy to as I wanted the best i could get.

I really want the car to go to a good home and get the respect it deserves.

I am accepting offers below (obviously) the asking price though.

My other project actually ends it auction in under 2 days so I am quite keen to get a firm offer so I can bid

    Now I've heard everything.....

This car is a piece of Nissan Australia history. Why anyone would want to buy it as a "donor car" is beyond me! This borders on sacrilege.

I know what most of the club think of NA's. I'm one of the few(?) who think that NA's are a nice balance of power and handling - more manageable in the wet and more reliable too.

I owned it before Mervan. It was always my pride and joy and I always aimed to keep it as a classic collectable example of the z32 as sold by Nissan Australia. The only deviations it has from standard are the rear shocks (KYB), a stainless steel pipe replacement for most of the long cooling hose and relocation of the PTU. None of these even involved drilling one hole in the bodywork and all are reversible. The car had the timing belt done at 113000 km and a new clutch at 131000km. This car has never been thrashed, drifted, doughnutted, dragged, pranged or otherwise abused. It was sold new in Tasmania, and with our light traffic conditions has not been subjected to the sort of driving required in a Sydney traffic jam, for instance. It was my "Sunday car" and kept garaged at all times other than the 5000 kms or so of driving I did per year in it. I believe Mervan has treated it similarly.

And yes, Manual is quite normal for these cars - but as someone correctly said, the number of manuals sold was very small compared to the number of automatics.

I must admit I still haven't totally given up the idea of buying it back - except that I still haven't got a garage, which was the original reason for selling it.

Damn, I should have said "the number of manuals sold in some states".

Overall I think there were fewer manuals sold, but not by much as they did have a "driver's car" reputation when new, especially after the fairly ordinary handling of the Z31. You'll see the car described as a "return to the sports car origins of the Z car" if you read any road tests written around the time it was introduced. When these cars were new, a manual transmission was seen as an essential requirement in a sports car, but many were just sold as comfortable cruisers and poser cars. Remember too, these were not cheap new. My old car cost $81000 in Tasmania when new, so the market was limited to fairly wealthy people many of whom just used it as a fashion accessory - the main market for the automatic.

    Price questions

Do you guys think my asking price is accurate?

    What would people suggest?

    Thanks

  14. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

That would be an accurate price for a good quality aus-spec in absolutely stock condition.

    Price and Stock condition

The car is absolutely stock although tassiezed could tell everyone as much about that as I could!

Havent had one bite at my asking price!

What do u guys think a fair reduction from 14990 would be?

Thanks in advance for your opinions

    NA's sold

I haven't seen any Na's sold for more than 13k. I think the problem is most people look at it and think why spend that when I could get a TT for the same money. You just need to wait till some younger person wants one and then appeal to their minimal insurance history. Perhaps advertise the insurance cost as low and compare it to a TT.

    I think it's reasonable.

I paid high $ for mine too - but it too is a good example.

Good for someone who wants a good, clean Zed. Unfortunately, that sometimes takes time to find the right person.

    Best of luck.

  18. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

I agree. I wonder if some of the people who have bought cheap zeds & then spent thousands getting it 'up to par' would buy an excellent condition zed up front second time around.
