Just some facts for you to consider.
Ausie specs Zs '91 manual according to the red book go for $7,000 to $9,000 with similar milage to yours.

You are competing with a substantial number of "grey imports" with generally low prices.

Most of the "grey imports" are turbos with leather seats etc which theoretically at least they are more expensive to buy but they are sold between $10,000 to $15,000 depending on the model.

At the moment there are a few Zs on the market and the byers have choices resulting in only "value for money" Zs being sold.

There is little or no variations between the '89 and the '91 models and buyers prefer to pay $8,000 to $12,000 for a similar to yours car even if they know that your car is generally "a nice vehicle".

In my opinion, it would be very difficult to get $14,500 for you car at present for the reasons I have just outlined. In the end if you really want to sell your car you have to consider dropping the price at a level which your local market can tolerate and accept.

I hope this helps to put things in perspective and I wish you all the best with your sale.

    Kind regards
    Dennis

    Correct, Cookie

The prices quoted by Anolofos are what you might expect as a trade in. The prices you quote are for a private sale.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that there are a few Zs around and byers have choices and they will try to take full advantage of the market forces. In my opinion 2k more or less would not make a great deal of a difference if you consider the pleasure one takes from driving a Z around and the time the Z is in her/his possession.

    ;)

    BigCol That's what she said...

You wouldn't be a car / used car salesman by chance would you? :p

Quite simply a car is worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Some people seem to want to spend 7k on a zed and express disappointment when it either a) needs 5-6k spent on it to get it up to "par", or b) is a complete lemon that should be put out of its misery. Sometimes there are valid reasons for an owner asking a higher than normal price, and sometimes there can be a big difference between 2 cars priced within $2k.

Red book figures are only a guide of price, and do not cater for all circumstances. From the glowing recommendations from 2 forum members it is quite clear this car could be seen as being in much better condition than average. Also the clear advantage of having a known previous history for the car is a great advantage that also equates into dollars.

    Thanks Guys

    Thanks guys!

    A useful and interesting discussion.

I suppose I am saying that my car is worth that little bit more because of the history and condition.

I really believe the market sets the price but there is always the chance that someone will see the car for what it is and buy based on the quality and assurance of buying a top of the line example.

I am prepared to wait and be patient although I do admit that my price is negiotable.
