Well its been a full on past few days for the stealth zed to say the least. Iv invested a good 15 hours today and yesterday. I have a TONNE of pics that i will post tomorrow when its actually done.

Yesterday i spent all day fitting the kaminari rear bar. Drilling holes and test fitting 100s of times. Then last night i sanded her down and inspected for any surface damage. Found it all and fixed it up. Then i attached the bar with it still in gelcoat.

Today i went back up north to get my tint redone as they had stuffed it something fierce as seen here:

The car parks at the tint place were narrow and i wasnt used to having such a larger rear end...i reversed into a bush (only lightly) and gave it some more little marks. The tint is all fixed though and looking very nice.

So i sanded the bar back and fixed it which didnt take long. Then prepped it this arvo and started to wrap. Ran into MANY troubles and im only half way done now. So ill finish it tomorrow and get all the pics up. Should be an interesting post.

until then..

Matt.

Rear Bar + Tails

Kaminari Rear bar and 2k spec Tail lights.

Started on sunday by removing the old Stock Stealth bar.

Bar comes off to reveal an endless amount of dirt and grime.

Then it got interesting. I started to test fit the bar and realised my mufflers were fouling the holes for the tips. So, seeing as though i have new mufflers (quads) on the way i decided to lop them off so i could fit up my bar and then eventually have the weld shop put my new ones on and line them up perfectly.

zing.

the chunk i took out.

More test fitting ensued and then the realization of the stock numberplate bracket fouling the bar came to pass. Off came the middle section and then the whole thing just came off (took quite awhile).

Then came the drilling of all the holes and fitting of the mounting brackets.

Test fit with bolts in.
[/IMG]

Got the numberplate lights in and sika'd on.

Some of the side mounting brackets.

Then it all came off for the vinyl. Prepped it up and got my new roll of vinyl there.

huge piece laying loosley on top.

part way through.

and again.

Until today it was finally complete after many more hours.

Got it on. The day i spent on fitment was well worth it.

Went down to the local shops got a front end shot.

and a couple rear ends. Oh yea 2k spec tails went on after the bar was done. Easy 10 min job and not much to report on. :p

Ignore the rims, they are Ztoys throw around ones that im using while he works on mine.

also...

Let me make this clear. I will never wrap another 300zx rear bar in my life!

I was so fed up with it so many times over the past 2 days wrapping it. Its got some really subtle and infuriating spots on it. So there are mistakes and creases down low... :(

Looking forward to the simplicity of the skirts though. I also realized i dont have enough vinyl either so ill need a 3rd lot *sigh*

Ill get better pics on more angles when the skirts are on too.

Thats all for the past 3 days.

More to come. Until next time....

Ohh....Does this make my bum look fat? :)

Looks great after the vinyl went on.

Have you informed the RTA of colour change?
I had a black fairlane for a couple of years and was pulled up by the sydney popo and asked if it was the original car as their info showed up as white. They thought it was a chop shop car. Had to show them a white spot in the boot (where realigned bolts). I was let go after a stern warning to get it changed at the RTA.

Agreed!

However, how did the 2k's take you 10 minutes??? Took me over an hour... Maybe I'm just too gentle :p

Iv pulled the tails in and out a few times. That helps :)

Also had a guy walk up to my window today and ask where i got the paint job

Makes me feel good that someone who is <10cms away can think its paint. :)

I COULD TELL IT WASN'T PAINT!

That may or may not be because I knew it wasn't paint prior to seeing it, I just wanted to be part of conversation...

Haha you do have a keen eye ;)

Starting to get quite a few comments now as it goes from the stock look to a more custom/modified look.

Had it parked on the street and as i was leaving a girl started pointing and yelling na na na na na batmannnn as i drove past. Make me giggle. :p

i love the ground hugging effect the rear bar has. Makes a massive difference.

Plans for the next bits will be delayed until early next week. I have a engine pull coming up on saturday with ztoy and reyoh which will be good. The engine will go into storage for when ryan gets here and then shell should be going on sunday.

Not sure what my work commitments will be but i will definately have the skirts wrapped and on early next week.

until then..

Mufflers

Not directly my own doing as most of this build has been but another very important modification none the less.

Similar to when the tint was done i sat outside the workshop and watched the guy do his thing. Im overly cautious with my car especially with the vinyl component. As you can imagine sparks and vinyl do not mix.

So i have a few pics of it being installed and test fit for you.

Looking at fitment

Big stands holding up the pipes while he welds them in place.

Welding! Its like gore, you know you want to look because your intrigued but you know youl be damaged if you do.

Attaching a third set of hooks for extra support.

The only pic i got while it was still daylight. :(
[IMG]

Ill get more and proper quality pics when im finished which will be very very soon.

The first guy i went to though was Carline at Burleigh. Straight of the bat, the guy there is a complete dick head. :F:

I rang him up and he told me to come in so he could have a look. I explained i had a 300zx and some mufflers that were not previously fitted to a 300zx. He had 1 quick look at them...didnt even touch them and then said "well....gonna be 110 each side + my time". I said "ah, i was looking more at 100 each side".

So a split second later he put one hand on my boot for a good luck pat or whatever the hell it was and says. Nah guys its gonna be too hard. Too HARD!?!?. He then walked back into his shop and i said to my mate. Was he joking?

Guess he wasnt as he didnt come back out. So we left for another shop.

Next shop we came to was the one i used. Great guy who said yea mate bring it round the back and he pulled out the mufflers and got on the ground and had a good look. Then said 160 for both! Champion! :zlove:

He even did some extra stuff which is good and for a nice price. So i highly recommend CarPro at lower West Burleigh road. For price and quality.

So.... My mate has a video of the mufflers with sound that is on youtube.

The mufflers are X-Force PT02 quad square tips, and they look and sound beast...

Wheels are coming tomorrow and have been given the stealth treatment also :)

Until next time...

Remember what I told you about those people who make things look "laborous" so they can ask for more doughs?! That's exactly what that was! I dunno why the hell they would say it's hard when in the first place that's what they do 24/7! I, being a Physio would never say that to a patient. Customers/patients are not only muscles and bones, they get affected psychologically. Some creatures are just not as people-oriented as others. And to hell with them!!!

Going back to those mufflers... they're SEX, man! Good thing you chose not to go stealth with that one (or should I say two?!). Icing on the cake...

AAA :zlove:

EDIT: and the sound!!! *changes pants* :br:

Haha! Thanks Arvin! :zlove:

Aparantly these things retail at 300ish each and there are none currently none in stock in the country:confused: So X-force said on the phone.

The sound is amazing, you get an idea of what its like in the video but in cabin its WORLDS beyond what i had before. It feels like a true car now that i can enjoy and feel comfortable and relaxed in.

So big thanks for supplying me with these badboys.

As for the guy. Yea your right, but i always knew id run into people like that and thats what turned me off the car scene in the beginning.

That was the last thing i have to taker my zed to a shop for though and i plan on doing everything else myself or with the help of others. Including an engine swap sometime this year with ongoing upgrades in that department.

Cheers,
matt :)

Not really. 11 bolts on the back and 3 each side. 17 all up.

The hard part is getting all the mounting gear on the aftermarket bar and getting a good fitment.
