sure shane, im not saying that things cant go wrong, things do go wrong , but im sure its safer to do it on the track then on the street, im sure procky and rob260 have built some good and strong enough cars,
I started work yesterday after two weeks off, so it's possible, I am also frustrated with the critical posts that were nor invited not particularly relevant to the thread... I mean really the thread is here to share pics & write up and it really is a shame that people who weren't involved see fit to comment on what we " should" be doing, or whether or not we have gained their approval. Appreciate the compliments but this kind of stuff "in my mind unless it proves it self on the track its just another dyno queen and thats all there is to it , . ( not at all having a go at anyone but thats just the way it is , and has been )" Is somewhat frustrating.
Ill happily wear the glorified show pony / dyno queen badge if it means In 10 years my engine is healthy, happy and still mid 300kw area. Alex I recall at nationals your engine having a issue, this is what I am talking about. Warranted it may have been a little old by then and had a great run but then the question comes up would it have lasted longer minus the track time done? I've had a nice car that I started to build and lost through a track accident which didn't cost anywhere near as much as the zed so far which is also why I'm hesitant because like the blue zed at the nationals I've lost something. Bracket, when you build yours? Will you be tracking it?! If so fantastic just I get worried some of you younger boys are all excited to to "blast tires" and do "130mph quarters" but don't think "what if oil on track, what if someone slides off a racing line near me, what if engine drops oil pressure and I cook it" because it can be big $$$$ to replace let alone get home again. For those of you who do track it fantastic!! Alot of respect and yeah it is fun. If I get anther cheaper zed ill track it for sure.
Course I'll be tracking it, can't unleash any kind of real power on the streets without being unsafe. I think about all of that, but I also think there's no point building a car to be fast, then not driving it fast. Not my thing at all.
yeah 10 years is a long time , it has seen many tracks , drags , mountains, roads etc etc , i would do it all again in a hart beat no question asked. i love my zed. going around thinking what if what if , is not a good start , there are people on the track that look out for things like that , , i put water( out side cooler spry ) on the track once at calder and i was sent off, then back on it again, and when you do get out there and you deicide you dont like it , well hey its not for everyone , but al so you didnt pussy out, IMO your car is great, and i mean that , props to you for building something like that , you go throu a lot of shit to get it to what it is today . im a very firm believer that the track will tell you what it is, and then just go from there .
MARK thats not fair , we do that because we love you, how mad would it be to see the JEDI machine on the track , really, its a codak moment,
When I was manual even only doing 12.6 I could feel the wear and tear on the car. My car held up perfectly fine but it felt "harsh" I would be nervous with big power through the manual gearbox especially with drag radials. I would be worried launching that hard I do just really wanna see what your car will do simple as that no dick swinging contest.
Not even at the end of a cruise like at the Nationals at PI a few years ago? Or am i thinking of Kr4usy?
Nope That wasn't me! That would have been Kr4usy and red32!! My car was washed and under covers for the show and shine the next day I was dougies navigator for that cruise
the point is dyno numbers dont mean anything and its a way of satisfying ego. i dont mean that in a derogatory way, its a fact. when you go to the track and talk to people about how much power they make etc its all irrelevant if the car is slow. i agree with what alex said
You know what you're entitled to your opinion avd that's fine, what I don't get is why you guys feel the need to share it with the rest if us? The thread is here for those of us involved and anyone else who is interested to discuss and share. If you're not interested then kindly show some manners and refrain from posting -your (and I'm speaking generally hete) approval is neither sought nor required.
nobody is looking to offend its meant to be a discussion and i wanna see some fast zeds out there representing
Dyno numbers may not mean anything, but that doesn't mean a dyno day doesn't. It was a great day with a great bunch of people, there was a healthy competitive feel amongst friends and it proved to be educational (and in my case and newz's case, potentially zed saving). I agree completely with you guys that don't understand why someone would build a car or own a car that can do all these wonderful things, only to never utilise its potential, but that is completely irrelevant to this thread. The dyno day was a great event and has nothing to do with people not wanting to track their cars.
