I keep trying to get these boys to come race at wsid but they're too busy posing, or scared of their own cars :D

Most of the NSW boys are too scared to get their skirts dirty :p I'm going back to the drags soon (24th) for my cars last run as an NA.

    Too many

In the talk it up club, not enough in the action club, i'll be using a walking frame to get around and long retired before some of these "gunna's" actually hit the track.
Drags are a good and easy way to start, run a time then work on it from there.
After that wears off hit the race track proper, definitely the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on.
Try it i'll guarantee you won't regret it.
Organise one of the sunday meets BJ and i'll come for another run if we can get some numbers there.:)

Just take it easy on the box, you can still see what your MPH is.

Haha I knew one of you guys would get wound up. Seriously though just take the cars to the track and get into it despite how crap rhe tyres may be or how much extra weight it might have. My xr6 had 140 dollar tyres, only makes 286kw at the wheels and is heaps heavy but it still pulls a 12.2 sec quarter and I always have a ball.

Hey I'll be completely honest at risk of being bagged out here.
I want to track the zed or even hit the drags. Have before (wakefield) but not since new engine and other work.

Reason being when I think about it. I also think "what if".
In the event I crashed the zed or someone crashed into me. I'd flip! The financial commitment involved in my zed is extremely high (as SOME) will understand having painfully built and picked their cars apart.

I'm not having a dig at anyone but that's my reasons for being hesitant at times.
I may however give the drags a go but , maybe the 100kg sound system will help keep my arse on the tarmac

I haven't invested anywhere near the time or money into my zed(s) as you have yours, but I'd be up the creek if I destroyed it man.

If you take it onto the track, drive within your limits and be cautious. If it was an Aus300 group day I'm sure you could tell people to give you a wide birth if you didn't want to swap paint.

Crashing on a track is the same as crashing on the road, driver error. If you drive within your limits, you'll be fine.

I think everyone enjoys their cars in different ways.

I took mine out on Oran Park South when I first bought it, with a Lexus club my old man was part of. Loads of fun.

I'd like to do it again (obviously at a different venue) but it's not as easy as all that. I tend to work 6-7 days a week for ten weeks at a time with two week breaks in between. Those two week breaks tend to get filled up fixing problems that have shown up in the past three months. I am very glad that fuel pump/tailshaft/flywheel problems haven't raised their head on the track where the consequences would certainly have been more serious.

Going to WSID on a Wednesday night isn't an option during my working period as I don't knock off until 8.

Meanwhile the planning/tinkering/cruising/club events keeps me entertained.

    I'm with you procky...

I've been bagged by my Vic brethren for the last 10 years for not tracking my Zed. But at the same time, I've also tallied the amount of engines, panels, gearboxes and increased wear and tear that my friends Zeds go through when they track them. I'm not saying, that if you track it once, you'll blow the engine. Far from it, thee Zeds have been tracked for years. But its the increased wear and tear on the car that you get from the track that I'm not keen on.

My car is a cruiser. I keep it as beautiful and as nice as I can. Its got a fresh coat of paint, and I certainly don't want it on the track getting stone chips or potentially damage. Its not a track car, and never will be.

Excuse me while I go and put my Grandpa hat on :).

Having said that, I will be getting something a bit more old school, think early in the Zed lineage, as a fun track/club car on club rego.

nothing will happen to your car in a straight line . the drags is fun . you will do more damage to it on the street.
you have done all this work to it , nice clean , good looking zed and you dont want to back up its power at the drags , and prove to your self its a weapon of mass destruction , what the point of even building it ,

in my mind unless it proves it self on the track its just another dyno queen and thats all there is to it , .
( not at all having a go at anyone but thats just the way it is , and has been )

people come here and talk a lot of crap, ( fact ) and when the time comes to man up and prove and see your hard work in action, everyone has 4000 excuses ready to go, oowww my tune,, oowww my tires ,, ooowww my fuel,,ooww my sound system this that that the other ,, same shit diff day.

IMO, go race have a good time, its safe its good fun, and enjoy it ,
NOT HAVING A DIG AT ANYONE but dyno queens are dyno queens , numbers are numbers and mean nothing , the track is where its at

While I like to see a man stand behind his convictions I hope you don't mind the rest of us enjoying our cars and good company as we choose?

"Not having a go at anyone" but this was by far the best event of it's kind that we've had, good enough to garner the attention of some pretty major sponsors and the biggest player in the modified imports media arena. If any of the stone throwers want to get off their arses and organise a track or drag day then go ahead and I challenge you to do as well or better.

Of course, but you can see the validity of where he's coming from.
Was reading something on Facebook today about running 10's with a zed, when it came up that 1200hp supras run in the 12's purely because 1200hp is just a number.

Agree and disagree with this post, especially the first line. Things can and do go very wrong in a straight line ;)

While it would be good to see some of these big hp cars strut their stuff on the track, it's really up to the owners what level of risk they are willing to expose their very expensive creations to ;)

    Nope, not in the slightest.

Everyone that came along had a great time, that's validation enough for me. I don't need approval from someone in VIC who wants to blow a bunch of hot air about "how it is and how its always been". My car to do with as I please be that dyno days, sprints, hill climbs, auto salon whatever.

Really can't see the point he's trying to make?
Of course, whoever owns the car should do what they please with it, I think he's trying to say that not every big number car is a quick one, and that numbers aren't the be all and end all.

Man nobody suggested that a big HP car was going to get around a track quickly, and it certainly wasn't any of the attendees (this is a post event discussion after all) that brought up track vs HP...
