300ZX TT Vs. XR6 Turbo

One of my mates just took delivery of a spanking new black F6 FPV 310 with the upgraded Brembo kit. Went over the other night to have a look and it is an AWESOME machine. Agree with RZM's blinkered comments - these are a different beast than earlier XR's. This thing runs 13psi straight out of the factory. eek.

 

ye col the new fg's are pretty mean machines. i was browsing the xrforum few days ago and one of those ran a 12.2 with only A TUNE done to it absolutly nothing else. i cant remember if that was with slicks or not though. but dayyyyyyyyyyymmmmmmmmm only a tune and it got it to over 300rwkw

i personally dont like the new look of the fg's though. the older ones look heaps tougher . and for the guys that are about to argue this comment no i did not fkn say it looks better than the zed.

 

I get to drive it next week! I'm quite looking forward to that! And as for the looks comment, it looks really good in black. I'm not keen on any of the other colours.

 

Australian built cars are dinosaurs compared to Japanese cars, FACT (blinkers off). Aussie cars are only recently starting to use technology the japs have been using for over 15 years. And I agree it's a passenger car so you can't compare it to a purpose built sports cars, but people who like their fords and Holden's will always try to compare them to everything(and they should realize Aussie cars are years behind the rest of the world and it will most likely stay that way), it's some sort of Aussie macho thing. It's the same stone age way of thinking that ford and holden think they can produce better cars just buy achieving more hp. I will never again own a for or holden by choice after owning a jap car.

So in summary I don't think aussie cars can hold a candle to a jap car of the same new purchase price, and I'm talking overall package not just one area.

Gypo 12.9 with 270rwkw is unimpressive you should've gotten a faster time. The XR6 will beat the Z in the 1/4 okay fair enough.. but in the street from rolling starts i dont it will beat a 300rwkw Z.

 

Depends which xr6 you are talking about. My XR is pushing 296rwkw and ive raced and beaten a 307rwkw R34 GT-T both off the line and from roll ons. You have to understand due to the weight these things have they put the power down better than most RWD jap cars, also the torque that is made by the 4.0litre straight 6 matched with the 600hp GT3582R is enormous and torque is what wins races not peak power. On the track yeh these things have no chance against something like a Z they were never built for the track to start with but thats not why people buy them, ill probably spend 99% of my time driving on the road not the track if i wanted a car for the track id get an EVO so as long as i have a quick road car im happy :biggrin:

yes but if u read my previous post i said 296rwkw and ive read this thread he never mentioned i have 350kw.

its not a forged bottom end but it is very strong can handle around 400rwkw. Same with the ZF 6sp auto good for around 400rwkw without touching it, its all in the tune u can break both at 300rwkw if your tuner is really sh1t lol

Azzurro u seem very naiive, i can see the good in the Z as a great track car ive been in chads car doing twisties and it handles awesome i would most likely end up at the bottom of the mountain if i tried it in my car lol maybe u have had ur ass handed to u that many times by xrs that u hate them? i duno lol

 

stock vs stock, i think it will be very close. my stock zed has both won and lost to a stock xr6t. i always said to myself if i every get a ute (probs wont) it would have to be the xr6t. they are just awesome cars for the money.

that being said, everyone is now talking about modded xr6ts. the way is see it is, you spend 40-45k (i dont know how much an xr6t costs so please correct me if im wrong) + 3-5k for a 350rwkw kit (again, correct if im wrong). for around 50k you get a large family car that is capable of ripping a new asshole to almost anything on the street (worthless as we have speed limits and we are all good and stick to them (bwahhahah)) or something that will chop alot of things at the drags.

now, buy a good conditioned zed (4k) but with a dead engine. rip it out, spend 25-35k on the engine and all supporting mods such as bigger brakes, wheels etc and you will have a huge amount of power (350-400rwkw+?). that now leaves around 10-20k on a nice paintjob (if needed) and a new interior.....

so for the money, you get a nice power figure from both cars but i would go with the zed. based on looks, the power and the comfort.........while i dont have a family lol

The Z is design is perfect for top speed runs, they are hard to beat when they have good power.

 

Dont hate them but its not hard to figure out why there are more FORD jokes than any other car make in history... lame jokes like: "on a quiet day you can hear the fords rusting..." "found on rubish dump".. and so on and so forth.... there are millions. :bash: Thats probably why seems like a LOT of people agree. A ford is a ford. You'll probably sell yours some time soon and get a proper car. :biggrin::zlove:
