300ZX TT Vs. XR6 Turbo

    C'mon, he probably just wanted to jump on and defend his car because he has first hand experience with it.

    No different than when a bunch of guys from here jumped on SAU or NS (can't remember which) to defend the 300zx when some idiot said it was "unreliable on fuel". :D


    Welcome to the forum, Vixen-T. You probably saw a lot of my posts above and I may have come accross as an xr6t hater. This wasn't intentional, I do not hate xr6ts and I am well aware they need very little go really get moving. A friend of mine who tunes cars for a living (tunes 2jz Supras mostly, but also whatever his customers bring him) continuously praises the engine in the xr6t for how easy it is to extract power from..

    Personally I love my zed, but can't really get upset if an xr6t does beat me, more displacement, big turbo and 20 years newer car, not too much of a surprise..

    lol well to me a car is a car dont care about the make or model if it deserves respect ill give it to it. And no i wont be selling my car anytime soon and if i was i definately wouldnt be buying a Z (no offence to anyone here). Oh yeh and im not here to defend my car it doesnt bother me if u dont like it i just wanted to put a bit of first hand input into the thread as everyone here owns a Z and no1 owns an XR. Dont care if u dont take me seriously either azzurro i dont know know u and u sound like a kid anyway so wouldnt waste my time. kbro3 thanks for the welcome. :biggrin:

    and roughly 650hp

    still an average engine though, with a great turbo hah :D

    No you stfu just because your not a zed three two fanboy doesnt mean other people can't be. Are you forgetting that zeds are an EXOTIC sports car :zlove:, Possibly the cheapest exotic sports car on the market. 300zx RULES!!!

    lol,that f6 was a true weapon and handed the t/t's a real hiding that night Pat lol ,sounded like a jetfighter when coming at us at high speed,fck that thing was mad :D:D
    even the vl turbo did it easy if i remember rightly ,i should post the dvd i have of it up :biggrin::biggrin:(mmmmmm,maybe not :( )

    theres nothing average about the engine, its reliable, fuel efficient easy to work on and lasts over 1,000,000km thats why it's used for taxis. 4.0litre, straight 6, dual variable cam timing, 4 valves per cylinder, huge torque at low revs and stock turbo is Garrett GT3582R which gets the XRs into the 10s with a couple of small modifications (ported wastegate, bigger actuator).

    It's called Sarcasm :bash:. Even when i was blindly in love with my zed I still wasn't as dellusional as half the idiots on here that think 300zx are the be all end all. It's a nice car all round and thats all it is :zlove:

    ahh yeh ive heard many stories with the ba turbo engines with work done, ranging from breaking conrods, continuesly warping heads etc etc (i was considering getting one and people i know who have previously owned them have sworn me off them!), im sure on stock power they are ok, even with a little bit of work, but people were mentioning about how easy it was to get power out of the xr6t's

    but yeah any way more to the point.

    reliable power please

    the first BA to come out had a weaker bottom end than the BFs (which can handle 400rwkw), in saying that my tuner is running around 370rwkw on his STOCK BA bottom end with NO PROBLEMS and has run a 10.9 @ 126mph, it all comes down to the tuning, u can break conrods and warp heads in a VG with some shit tuning im sure of it :biggrin:

    Whoah, awesome power and awesome time! Any chance you could list your tuner's mods? Very curious what would be needed to make an xr6t pump out that kind of pull!

    Indeed, straight 6's are one of the few engine configs with no balancing issues from memory...or vibration or something along those lines. Forget the exact word haha, but remember it was a good thing to have.
