hmmm interesting this could be the cause of my problem as this sympton is one ive been encounter with my auto though not exactly like that but the slamming of 1st - 2nd gear does happen sometimes. My TPS my need replacing so ill look into replacing that and see what happens. Thanx for the help Trev
Ok i think i may have fixed my auto problem thanx to the information Trav supplied me. I did try to breach the pins suggested in the artilce but found the idle was really bad and jolty at low revs so i fiddled with the TPS unit adjusting the position of the unit and spraying the slightly corroded pins with WD40 and the car is shifting alot better now.
Problem is still present I definately think its an electrical gremlin at work and not the auto transmission. Unfortunately i have tried and tried and i still can get the manual auto diagnostics to come on. Ive followed all 3 of the auto diag. guides to the letter and still no blinking of the power light, so i dont know what i can do to diagnose this problem. I can now say ive had my power light flash more then 13 times at start up occansionally since i adjusted the TPS. But this is above the 10 blinks the guides stats as the highest blink count.
go for broke and have a look at all the electrical things that could have an effect on your transmission; - Revolution Sensor - Speed Sensor - Throttle Sensor - Shift solenoid 'A' circuit - Shift solenoid 'B' circuit - Overrun clutch solenoid - Lock-up solenoid - Fluid temperature sensor is disconnected or A/T control unit power source circuit is damaged - Engine revolution sensor - Line pressure solenoid The above info was taken from tt.net Try having a search on there.
No i havent i dont have a spare one to test either. Its a very frustrating problem ive got and something else must be at work causing this problem. I think its one of the other items bear listed thats faulty and or not working properly. I need a conzult check on the car or more accurately on the car when the auto plays up.
Tekkie Perhaps you could run diagnostics for Adam and get to the bottom of this once and for all? :zlove: If diagnostics do NOT show a fault in say TPS/solenoid packs or other electrical components then I'd suggest an oil and filter change and inspection by a Transmission Specialist @ approx $200.
I agree, i have had this problem for at least a year now and it could have been the cause of my original auto box blowing on me. If Tekkie can run a diagnose for me i would be much appreicated and hopefully shed some light on my problem. Ill send you a pm tek and go from there.
