Was it because he used cable ties again?

40 psi .... cable ties can easily handle it :p

    ^^ **** you guys.

so I'm mooching off wifi at uni, haha. which means it's time for an update!

I moved house! pretty neat. it means I HAVE A FLAT DRIVEWAY OH MY ****ING GOD

Zed will now never have to live on the street like it did at my old place when it wasn't getting worked - getting it into the car hole was a solid 2 hour deal.

the car's been in a million bits for a while now, trying to work around some people's schedules to get it together But here's one thing that's done -

so Dean convinced me that converting my fuel rail to twin feed is a super smart thing to do. I wasn't keen at first as at face value it meant more hoses running around (that I'd have to hide somehow) 'til I remembered a spot I found a while ago, underneath the fuel rail. Test fitted some hosing on a motor at work, fit like a glove. I can't emphasize how cool that is, I got so super stoked exited when I found out it'd work!

^^ see, I did say that.

The basic premise of a twin feed set up is that rather than have all the fuel flow in one end of the rail and out the other (which reportedly starves cylinder 6 where the fuel enters), the supply is split and directed in from both ends of the rail then returns through two hoses at the front, which are then bridged together again before the FPR. These new returns replace the 4" hose that connects both sides of the rail, underneath the throttle body linkage.

    to do this you'll need
    - 2 x brass 8mm barbed y pieces
    - at least 2 meters of 8mm fuel hose
    - a bunch of clamps

Bridging the return before the FPR:

Just after I took this pic my brass 8mm barbed y-pieces arrived from the UK:

If you're thinking of doing this, do yourself a favour and order these online. They're a bitch to get local. eBay it, $4 a piece.

Anyway, this is what it looks like with the plenum/fuel rail off, starting to fit up my new black nylon braided lines.

Fitted up my 550cc Injectors too. I got these cheap off of eBay under the impression they were series 1 Nismo's, turned out they're Series 2 JECS. Whatever, just means I had to solder in 6 new plugs. Arvin detailed them, gave me the go ahead and all was well. Thanks dude!

New injectors in the middle, my reconditioned stock ones on the right. They went in with all new o-rings. Then then I fed the lines onto the fronts of the rails and bolted them back down. Bit of fresh paint on the injector caps too.

Plenum ready to go on, proper clamps on the fuel rail, new series 2 injector connectors soldered in, coolant temperature sensor loom re-run through passenger bank. I've been planning to do this for ages; jamming it between the plenum and cam covers was fugly and made refitting the manifold a bitch.

^^ see, I did say that.

Then the plenum went back on. Since the whole system's hidden, I took this photo to provide a basic idea of the feed:

Got my Nistune (from the group buy way back in the year) and fitted that up too. I had it sent back to me with an altered K value to suit the new injectors, and AIV's removed. Sent it off when I first pulled the plenum, whole thing went like clockwork...

Attila and Mikey also came 'round while this was going on and we had a mini tech day at my new place :) We converted Attila's car to twin feed/return with the same method, been going great since!

NOTE my new VeilSide oil cap! ultimate wank! I picked it up cheap on Yahoo! Japan with plans to powdercoat. Unfortunately it was sold as a cap for an IS250, which... didn't fit at all. Fortunately, Dean to the rescue, he had me post it down and machined a brand new thread into it (good thing toyota threads are wider) and now it fits like a glove. THANK YOU :) <3

ps: and yes, went for the crank yesterday as Newz (Martin) said, and fuel spat everywhere, turned out I hadn't tightened up the clamps going to the FPR enough, fixing it today so all should be well :)

Im glad you posted those pics as I was reading a post by Black Beast with the diagrams of how to twin feed and wanted to see how it actually looked.

Loving the herring bone fuel line as well, that's what I have planned for mine as well. Do you think there will be any performance issues of the fuel in the return pipes being warmed sitting down there? I was considering wrapping them in a thin foil backed type heat wrap. Supposed to be very good against heat transfer but bloody expensive for what it is.

Cheers for the plug bracket info, that came off at the weekend along with a load of other stuff

    Thanks fellas.

I'm really not that concerned about running the fuel hose down there. There's going to be a bunch of heat either way, and rubber is already an insulator. Not to mention the OEM fuel temperature sensor.

UPDATE: Fixed the fuel leaks and it started right up :) New injectors, twin feed, injector plugs, battery relocation, NisTune and idle components a success :D Love when everything works!

Newz just got a genuine 25th anniversary front bar. Arrived the day before yesterday, did a test fit on my car while my bar was off. not my thing but looks the goods!

I agree that front bar looks nice!
Where can Joe Public get one of these?

Concept z or z1, it's a stillen urethane lip that you add to your front bar. Ztoy was doing the tt version also in frp. Agree it looks really good!

It does look good. Almost as good as the Fiesta front end conversion... maybe I should rip it off my house mate's car while he's asleep. It's not what I'm going for with this build though. I've had more or less the exact same vision of what the car's going to look like for the last 12+ months, that's not about to stop now.

    body, in its entirety -
    - ADM NA front bar
    - ganadors
    - Driven Authority CSL-R wing
    - Escort racing bonnet

    here's a little recent inspiration :)
