id love to see pictures of the various styles of 3XX kmph gauges, as im looking at putting one int my vert for later on (with the tt conversion) is it possible to fit the aus-spec speedo to another cluster? for me, swapping the entire cluster out is not an option because the verts have a few lights specifically relating to the soft top lid and release
I read an article years ago where Wheels took a bunch of exotics and a police radar out to a runway to try crack 300k. By exotics I mean high end euros Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. None of them could do it. The only car that managed was a heavily modified R33 that was well past the redline in fifth gear... Aerodynamics, weight and gearing are all stacked against you at that end of the speedo! Not to mention speedos get notoriously inaccurate at big speeds. What rpm would an NA and TT need to be doing in 5th gear to hit say 200k?
I just made 200 in my pulsar n12 ET , with back wind heading to Wollongong And that was flat nackers , had nothing left
I know this, 240k is possible, about 150mph, 300k is 196mph, and is not impossible, just highly unlikely.
I know a few that have been within lets say 30km/hr of 300. Lets face it tho, if you are going those speeds, the speedo is the last thing you should be looking at.
Ross dont get a 330 type , the increments are 7.5kph apart its a pain to read. esp when doing 6000rpm in top gear.
200 on my gps which is about 210 indicated is a breaze in mine with heaps left over never looked at the revs but the previous owner melted a piston at an indicated 280 on my car. 18 psi on stock injectors with an ebay chip for those who want know. I would imagine 240 actual speed is more than acheivable at 14 psi
Our old red manual na, there were a few quick laps in brisbane on straights where it was taken to the limiter. At around the 180km/h marker where the limiter hits the rpms were around 3500 - 4000. That was in 5th gear. So with working to the 6500 rpm mark it might get upwards of around 250km/h... maybe... not sure really. But that would be in an ideal instance i would hope. Perfectly flat road with minimal wind resistance. Someone can probably pipe in with more specific data. TT's with a heap more under its wings might slowly creep to a higher speed before as you say the aero work against it. As for that skyline. Was that the one where there was a youtube video of it in a tunnel over taking cars. Cracked over 300kms but was geared accordingly to reach that marker. Slow take off but on song at 300 clicks. Will have to google the video im talking about.

Well i regularly see 300+ KM/H in mine!!! Sometimes i am still in the driveway - stupid broken speedo!
Slot car managed top speed of 224k at the drags with big power, less weight and improved aero. 300k is a massive stretch of the imagination but don't let the truth get in the way haha
