    You guys forgot the R31!!!

    :p

As Doom said though, the RB series of engines are very tough, especially the RB30E that you find in the Aussy R31 Skyline which is considered bullet proof.

Chuck the RB25DET head onto the RB30E block with a half decent turbo and it will beat any standard R33 or 300ZX TT.

I do know though if I could own a 300 I definately would!!! And I would easily take it over the R33, the R33 is the one I least like out of the R31-R34 QUODO ;). I just love my R31 too much and spend all my money on it

    Cheers!

    IB ?????

I agree, fhe only reason a zed is difficult to park :LOL::LOL:

is because you don't want to stop and get out.:LOL::LOL:

    IB ?????

So you have to make one engine from two different engines :wacko::wa

add a big turbo, just to beat a stock zed:wacko:

Or you could take a stock zed, add a pod filter, some boost jets and an exhaust and have something even quicker?:zlove::zlove::zlove:

Well a stock NA RB30E or even a RB30ET out of a turbo VL would have no hope in hell against a TT Zed or R33 GTS-T / GTR. But you can get good condition R31s for around 3-4K and spend about 8-10K building the RB30DET that I was talking about and come in under the cost of a good TT or R33 while having more power.

Thats what I would do anyway if I had the money ;)

Had a RB30T, in my VL Interceptor.... the 300zx with pod and boost jets is no comparison at all,

Still that RB30T was a fantastic engine !!

hmm in ur sig it says r31 skyline club, my little bro owns a R31 series 2 silho and reckons that people on that r31 skyline club site say that an rb30det only makes about as much power as an rb25det, something to do with running less boost cos of higher compresion....

back to the topic at hand, i want an r32 gt-r! i would almost consider selling the zed for an r32 gt-r but if i did that i would onyl change my mind and want something else (i would prolly want the zed back). the thing that attracts me to the skyline is the fact you can bolt on a big single turbo, mmm single turbo...

and i have never driven an r33 gts-t (the only skyline i have ever driven is my little brothers r31, and at the time the clutch was rooted) but i have been in one, although it had had some work done to it and my zed is completely stock apart from a big zaust so i cant really compare the two...

    Re: I've owned both

I've got a Z32 and an R33 in my garage. The R33 doesn't have boost leaks, oil leaks, vibrate under power, is a dream to work on and is dependable and reliable as your best mate.
Doesn't look as good, drive as nice, turn heads as much as so on.
If you're into power - the Z is quicker (slightly), the brakes are worse (slightly)and economy - the Z is a big loser.
Some days I just cruise in the Z with a smile on my face - other days I enjoy the snappy smooth straight six in the R33. I really don't care.

    my opinion

i test drove an r33 just before i bought my TT zed,
the skyline had stock boost, pod and cat back..
now it had a nice gear box, nice clutch and the steering felt light and easy, the power however was severely lacking in the torque department, half of what a stock zed feels like.. after driving it i thought.. well that was a nice car.. i could see myself in that..
jumped into the zed and FELL IN LOVE, the ride is incredable, the power is ******* AWSOME.. u've got the luxuries of power seats, windows, mirrors, antenna, and climate control, not to mention.. TAGRAS!! its the ultimate cruise machine with damn good looks and handling to boot, with enough power when mildly modded, to beat majority of the cars on the road..
    Z32>R33

    sports car or sedan?

My mate i live with has an imaculate R33, It's a great car, turns loads of heads but...

All our mates love my Z32.. its a real sports car. I was going to get an R34.... But now i have the Z i understand its a much more eyecatching, rarer car that is all sportscar.

Thats all there is to it! Skylines are very, very good quality cars, but.... They are really a family car with bits bolted on. The Z's are all out sports cars, designed from scratch to be a sports car.

Depends what you want. Sportscar (coupe) or sedan?

    we all have to agree,

The Skyline is an awesome car, as is the Z32,
    two totaly different animals,
how good is it that Nissan developed two amazing engines at the same time,
Yea fair enuff the R32 GTR is an amazing car hands down, banned from all sorts of motorsport because of what it could do, I've heard they are almost boring to drive because it's 'point and shoot' the car does the rest..
I have never had the pleasure of driving a 32GTR, but I'd love to have one sitting in my Drive, just because of what it is and it's history.
An R33 is a bigger, heavier more refined car than it's older brother,

The Z32 is a sports car, and bang for your buck, not much can touch it, a few simple mods and big HP..more of a drivers car.. enuff to keep the blood pumping...

    IB ?????

    Banned???

Yes, they were heavily regulated against in Australia to reduce their domination but they weren't banned.

The formula they were racing in died off but that wasn't to stop the GTR's. Group A was killed off by the homologation process, one manufacturer would homologate a car that would dominate until another manufacturer built a dominating car. The manufactures and the fans became sick of watching one car dominate.

The death of Group A was signalled before the release of the GTR and was triggered by the Cossie Sierra's domination. Unfortunately for Nissan, the FIA had decided that Group A Touring class racing would no longer be a global formula before the GTR hit the race track but they were so close to doing so. This meant that the GTR became the last homologation special for Group A and Nissan had built the best car so far for the formula.

The Brits introduced the 2 litre touring car program that came and went. The Germans introduced a silhouette formula that came and went. The Aussies introduced V8 touring cars and 2 litre touring cars, the V8's are still here. The only "touring car formula" that has lasted longer than the Aussie V8's is NASCAR. Even the Germans have tried to copy the Aussie V8's.

The reason the Aussie V8's and NASCAR have outlived the rest is Parity. The manufacturers involved and the fans can be sure that there's a chance of their make winning which is the reverse of what happened in Group A.

    I always thought...

that the skyline was made as a dedicated track car, the GTR more specifically.... the zed however is more of your grand tourer, cruise machine... either way, I wouldnt mind either. The zed just looks nicer..:)

    Cheers
