Once again i would like to get in to this dilema. But firstly i would rather hear it from you. hOW WOULD YOU COMPARE ZED TO R-33 GTS-T. i roughly know what the outcome is, however i would like your say, reagring speed, , handling, quality etc
    thanks

The zed has a way lower centre of gravity. The zed looks shit loads better. Even thought the zed engine is a pain to work on I think its a better engine.

Apart from that I aint driven a R33

I have driven both for a fair bit of time.

They both cost about the same (Zed is cheaper up front but I had to spend assloads to get it into decent running condition)

The stock zed feels like is has way more torque, and the power delivery is much smoother. It's a real b--ch to park, as it's turning circle seems a lot bigger, but strangely it seems to handle a lot 'nicer' - I say nicer because the r33 has sharper turn in, but the back end feels a bit "twitchy" especially under power with teh hicas kicking in.

You could probably fix all that with sensible modifications to the suspension and rolling gear tho.

Yes, the z32 (I dunno about NA) has hicas, but it seems to come on a lot smoother even when hanging the back end out through a corner.

That said, the taga topped z32 is one heavy car. That's probably why it seems slightly heavier on the fuel than I recall the r33 being. And there's two of everything when modding (turbos, intercooler plumbing more complex). Modding an r33 is way cheaper, just from looking at parts and such.

And easier to work on, as has been stated.

Overall, they're both great cars, and I'm loath to pick. But I will note that if you want individuality, there are still far less z32's cruising around than there are r33s. And the z32 looks the business.

a stock skyline is better to do burnouts and stuff in because it's power

is good enough to just spin the wheels, and not enough to make you lose control that easily.

Own a Z, but been in a skyline heaaaps of times. Skyline is a fun car, thats about it... doesn't really move anywhere until you mod it up heaps.. they are huge inside, almost like a family sedan. The only time they move is when the driver is like a race driver  Z has much much better torque and 'feels' a lot safer, and sporty to drive in.

Test drive them both and decide based on that, not what everyone tells you.. A GTS-T is a waste of time and money if you ask me.. GTR is the only way to go with a skyline. Also a 33 is cheaper to maintain than a Z.

    I drove 13 different skylines.. r33... and a couple of r34...

drove 1 Z32... and i now own it.

Much smoother delivery of power, yes maintenance is resonably high to get it to where u want... but so is any car these days.

I love the Z32 ... drove my friends r33 today and am so glad with my decision on the Z'd:zlove::zlove:

    I like skylines

i love the zed more obviously, and the zed will always be a better looking car... But i wouldnt be ashamed of having a skyline in the driveway... engine is way easier to work on, and they have good get up and go... my pick would be an R34 but they also cost a lot more....

in terms of power, i think a zed TT would have no trouble with a skyline until you start talking GTR's where the big power is. Having said that, I've seen some nice GTS-T's with decent mods pump out lots of power...

my friend has an R32 GTS-t and we are fairly even in power on the dyno (my NA had 5 kw's more at the last dyno). But his car is about 200kilo's lighter and i figure that would give him an advantage.

    Cheers

Asking this at a Zed forum...

naturally most posts will be pro Zed. For balance you should post the same question on a Skyline forum :p

In general any inline engine is better balanced, cheaper to mod and way easier to work on than V engines. I'm told the RB series have better longevity than the VG30.

A Zed is a bitch park, has poor visibility, bitch to work on, finicky to maintain, heavy, thirsty, needs specialist mechanics and it's too low to be practical as an everyday car. Skyline is definately more user-friendly.

According to some stats I found, stock 1/4 mile times are 14.2 for TT Zed and 14.4 for GTS-T, both 1995 manuals. So if the figures are correct (anyone?) theres not much between them. Anyone know their stock 0-100 times?

Looks are subjective, one is sleek, sporty, sexy and feminine, the other is subtly aggressive, more conservative but still stands out in our world of Falkodores....both are cop-magnets tho unfortunately

On a personal note I'd swap my Z for a nice white series 2 R33 anyday, even though the R33 is often considered the fat ugly duckling of the R32-34 trio.

    mmmm....R34's yum

    looks

It all comes down to what you want, and your own personal preferences.

I recently bought a Zed, and have never been happier with my decision.

All I know is, when I wake up in the morning, do I want to get in a car with style (the Zed), or a car that screams power without finesse. Yes, skyline's are great on the track, but I don't really wanna drive one to work everyday!

AND.... you just can't beat the targa roof I'm afraid!

    Good luck with your decision

    I agree

i agree with you guys in any aspect. Zed is very slick nice to drive quick yet heavy and very cramped with the space. i know this too for a fact coz i had an r-33 which at the end was mad car yet it didnt have the shape and finnesse of zed.To sum it up they are both great quality cars comming from the same familily just different branches. And yes RB engines are more likely to last more than VG as they have been known as bulletproof material for modifiers

Compared to a sports car like MR-2 or MX5, it's positively spacious.

WOKBURNER Bringer of fun and mayhem

BEEN A FAN OF BOTH AND DRIVEN BOTH EXTENSIVELY!

AND THE THE ZED SMASHES THE GTST FOR VALUE, HANDLING AND POWER. I got told the Z was aload of shit by Skyline boys who have spent loads on there cars and then went and run them at the creek. .5 second faster and the Z was stock, just boost and pod. The GTSTs had the lot, turbos, injectors, pods, turbos. Then to confirm this fact, at the UAS track day we had GTSTs with the lot, on slicks and I check passing them on road tryes with a relatively stock engine.

And whats all this garbage about having to use specific parts on the Z. No more specific than the Skyline, some parts are even the same. Yeah they are a little harder to work on but man its worth and it not all that much heavier than a Skyline. You want heavy try a Commodore at over 1660kgs. ZED ONLY FEELS HEAFVY CAUSE ITS GLUED TO THE ROAD.

I AM BIASED AND PROUD OF IT!

Plus the Z has all the looks, i .

"AND WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT PARKING A ZED CAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO STOP DRIVING IT TO PARK IT!"
