Will the engine be re-built or anything before it goes in?

    Hey Tom,

What is the factory injector CC on the VQ?

this is great news - another reason why you get my tick of approval for working on the zed :)

No, well not for that price. We source good condition engines with good compression, otherwise we don't sell them. We could offer rebuilt motors but the price would double and there really isn't any point rebuilding a 'newish' motor with good compression.

Same as the VG mate... 370... but the fuel rail is massive!

    cheers mate :)

well let's just see how it develops... i'm sure we can work something out! :)

Google maps say that I can drive for 1 day and 9 hours to get there ;D
I might be interested depending on how this pans out :p
(and how my most recent requirement for Z repairs pans out also)

:( Doesn't look like I'm gonna have the funds for the conversion in any form of the near future....

Well the R33 subframe was a big fat negative... it sits way too far forward in the engine bay, couldn't even get the radiator in! :)

The good news is that I've modified an S13 cross member and it fits in, clears the sump and will just have to space it down a little more to get the bonnet clearance in check. It's tight but do-able! :)

Once I have the engine dropped about another 25mm, i'll have a VG box bolted up in no time. With a bit of luck I'll have one running in a Z32 within a month! :)

When the funds are available to me again (ie after I have paid you for my current repairs :p) I will be right at the front of the line for this.

I was considering a conversion anyway, so this looks like it could be a goer :)

    Cheers

    Hey ZRATED,

How do you plan on running the exhaust from the side with out the turbo to the side with the turbo i.e. in between the engine and fire wall or underneath the engine, also is using the modified S13 cross member legal? will you need an engineers cert for it because it has been modified?

Is there another VQ crank (one larger than 3.0) that fits in these engine blocks (this question might be a little eager a bit soon :p)?

Also how will the wiring work, just plug in the new harness and brain and go!!

I'm keen to see this happen as it is an interesting option and would be great as a bolt in kit especially if there is nil legal requirements other than getting a basic engine change inspection (number change)

    Cheers

The main point of the conversion seems to be to avoid a cast iron block and go all alloy. I don't see much gain with replacing the crank, but my knowledge is limited ;)

    Cheers

The S13 cross member didn't work as we hoped. We managed to get it in the car and clearing the sump however we weren't happy with the steering angles, etc.

We're now in the process of constructing a custom cross member which will be engineer certified and 100% road legal. It's taking some time but we are getting there... slowly.

As for the exhaust system, we will be designing a single into twin system so it will bolt up to the 'cat back' part of the existing exhaust system. Otherwise we will be offering a bolt on upgrade, single 3 and single 3.5" exhaust systems.

Due to a huge workload @ PZP, we're behind schedule (as usual) but we are still making progress. :)

no no these engines are extremely underated. 73mm stroke big bore 3 litre. this kinda combo spells for lower pistons speeds meaning higher rpm capable which = power! They have a bucket and shim style lifter aswell which is better for revving. have a look at the maytech drift car. if i didnt go ls1 i would have gone this route.

Much better motor, lighter than VG by about 100kg, better balanced, lighter rotating mass, younger. Biggest problem is the sump. We are slowly working on boring one out to 3.8 ltre and toughening it up for 500plus rwkw and putting it in the SLot Car.
