Interesting about the HID ballasts... didn't know that! My high and low ballasts are right next to each other... Chris recons a spark's a spark, and checking visually won't tell me so much other than that they're sparking. Borrowed a charger, battery is 100%. Don't have a spare PTU but I can try and borrow one, Triple checked the wiring for it already - stripped it back, and ran a new earth straight to battery. Plugs are NGK, not sure what gap as I didn't put them in.
Funny suggestion and it worked for me I had a similar problem, i had good spark and Good fuel could flatten batteries dusk till dawn and wouldn't get so much of a pop out of it tried everything ecu ptu still wouldn't start A mate had the idea of tow/roll starting it there was a hell of a bang (ill assume fuel in the exhaust) And off it went And it was been starting and running fine since then May be a long shot but if you have a manual i would say it is worth a try cant hurt
update car is closest to starting it's been in a month, issue is with CAS attempting to re-position it, battery flat again discovered by looking into throttle body while cranking and getting a face full of flames
The problem is not with the cas, It's your ignition timing which is way out - especially if you have removed the cas and the locator dowel is missing and you have slapped it in. Pull it of and see if you can line up any dirt marks you will either get it good enough and it will start or it will be 180 out. When it does start I expect a pizza call my mob tomorrow if you need further explaining.
Not quiet 180 out, im pretty sure there are 8 teeth on the cas locator so you have atleast a 1 in 8 chance you will line it up correctly you will need to be meticulous when pulling it out to rotate it the slightst. the best way would be to use a timing light to see if your on the money before you start the car. with your fuel pump fuse out
We got pretty close, having the car very nearly come to life the second time we put it in. Then battery completely died, so it's charging now and we should get it running on Monday or Tuesday night Pizza goes to Chris for spending so long on the phone to me while diagnosing!
IT ****ING RUNS day #2 of attempting to put the CAS in correctly, now with a fully charged battery. IT STARTS which means fuel filter location works fuel hose set up with no damper and relocated regulator works new coil pack/injector loom works new fuse box, PTU locations work new locations for earths work ****ing awesome THANK YOU CHRIS
Yup. To the best of my recollection we pulled out the CAS to diagnose only after it wouldn't start, so I have no idea what it was the first time. May've badly adjusted it before.
Could have been a bad compination of a few things.....battery getting low and a bit flooded maybe. Either way main thing is she's going now :br:
Just in time to... pull the motor out! It's all in my build thread buddy, pages 24 and 28. Put any comments or questions there.
