VIC Winton Fun Day - 4th July

I went to the last fun day a couple of months ago and another is planned for the 4th of July.

For $30 you get 20 minute sessions on the track then its 20 minutes for cars that want to take 1 passenger ($30 for the passenger too). That happens from 9am to 5pm.

Winton states the day is run under "Controlled Conditions" which means that you can't drift or look like your about to loose control. You get a couple of warning flags if your being stupid then you sit the 20 minute session off the track.

You are also not allowed to time yourself and anyone seen with a 'lap time counter' will not be allowed to race the whole day.

Last time was bloody awesome so I'm going again if anyone else wants to join.

I'm probably in for this one, there's a sprint event at Winton 2 weeks later so I want to get to know the track beforehand.

Is there compulsory scrutineering in the morning or can you just turn up at mid-day? What time did you leave Melbourne last time?

 

you can turn up any time you want and they do scrutineering all day so that's not a problem. last time i left melbourne around 7am.

is the winton track faster and better then sandown ,

my top speed at sandown was 255 in 4th gear .
any info ????????

 

well i'm pretty sure the v8 supertaxi's only get to around 240km/h on the straight (and sandown has massive straights) so you won't be beating 255... but corners are more fun anyway I reckon.



looks like a pretty cool track, hopefully they're doing the full circuit.

 

they use the full circuit and i was getting to around 190km/h down the main straight.

 

ok well 190 is still good..

so sandown is a faster track ....

that's still good, cant wait now .
got to get this tune done

new front read brakes .

put the 295 stickies on the back
and i think that's it ..

i got everything just got to get the brakes ,
well and the tune this friday i hope ..

Winton Raceway organise these days and anyone can attend. Last time I went, there were ex V8 supercars (VH, VK and VS's), some open wheelers, jap cars, muscle cars, and a few L'platers having a go too.

I'm hoping that all these 'kids' on the forum that keep bragging about how quick they are on the street will step up and peform on a real track.

 

Sounds the goods. I'm in will probably bring up the road car.

Up the Hume about 3 hours from Melbourne. Great little track full of interesting corners.

got my exam timetable today, finish on the 30th so i have 3 days to get everything ready.
hopefully i can get everything done, but if i can't then i'll come up and take photo's and videos.
