Always liked the Z cars. It's just mostly the looks, would have been a Z or a Supra, but Supra was too typical Asian for me, and the interior sucked bad, also the roundy bits made it look like a girls car.
I like the rougher sound and more edgey look of the 300zx...

also because so many people underestimate the Z and are clueless about them. Like the fruit manager at the woolies I work at...when I told him my car is in safety boost and running 7psi with twin turbos...his reply was "ohh..so it's a twin turbo, so the boost is about 14psi then?" He claimed to have owned and totaled a Silvia in the past with "80k spent" on it and making 240ish rwkw....

Anyway..yeah. Hopefully I can get my Z on the road soon ;-)

As an "older member"..... I've always had high performance cars, my first at the age of 18 being an RT E38 Charger.
Since that car I've owned a string of high performance cars and loved every minute of it.

I never planned on a ZX, after all I have an E55 in the shed and its slowly being rebuilt......
My problem was that I wanted a performance car and I wanted it NOW and the E55 wasnt about to roll out of the shed real soon.

    Then it happened......

Saw a ZX for sale ...... parked on the front lawn with a phone number, no price listed just the number, the ppl in the house said it was a friends car and he parks it there for sale once or twice a week......

    My interst built......
    I researched the car
I researched the ZX for strengths/weakness
I test drove half a dozen

I went back and bought the one on the lawn about 6 weeks later.... and I bought a 2nd ZX about a month after that.

    Why a ZX ??????

The shape / style / lines = SEXY

the drivability and performance sold me

Just had to have two of em

..I can remember sitting in one back in 89' and instantly (gees I was in my 20's then) fell in love with it.

    Hmm definately the looks

Loved it when I saw it at a motor show in KL when I was 14 (almost 16 years ago), was the only car I was interested in and really really wanted.

Finally I got mine 3 years ago, no regrets about it. Got plenty of flogging for it, from idiots who say it's a boat, it's slow, it overheats....etc. Pisses me off really, but no I still love this car and nothing's gonna change that....

Funny.... all those "flaws" always come from people who haven't even driven one, never mind own 1

Its a bit like me walking up to the owner of a Ferrari F40 and saying "yeah but the interior is a bit crap hey, and parts are a nightmare to find these days"

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Best reason yet, Insalt!
When the Z32 first became available in Australia, I immediately fell in love. "Sex on wheels" seems appropriate. But I was in my early 40's, with a young family, and a mortgage (which incidentally was less than the purchase price of the car). Ferrari's, Porsches and the like never really had any appeal for me (maybe an Audi Quattro, but still way out of my budget). So I had to live with my dreams and make do with a family-type car. I played with a few V8s, but they were still fodor Lumpmobiles.

But 5 or 6 years ago my son (Baroo) bought a Z32 and I was amazed at how relatively cheap they had become. So, family grown, mortgage paid, I started looking for one myself... now the Zed is pretty much the only sex I get! :D :D :D :D:(

Well, I don't actually have one yet... but why I want to is simple. I've always liked them and as soon as I was really interested in cars and what I was driving around in, I wanted one.

Again, like others - never been interested in the import scene. Not interested 180s, Supras, Skylines (though nice), Soarers, Silvias, 3000GT, FTO, Rx7...or anything else I can think of.

For me, its always been the sleek look of a 2+2. I was on this very forum 5yrs ago as a different member name, lurking around then. In between then I've bought a house, a car, been married, seperated, got rid of the house and after all of that...I fell in love with the Zed again.

For me, its not about 1/4 times or anything. Its simple. A Zed is everything I want in a car. For me its about not compromising on anything. Its exactly what I want. Its my 'realisitic' dream car... a car that I would drive everywhere and not worry about.

Here are a few good reasons...

I came across a list of awards the Z32 has received, and rather than start a new thread thought it would be appropriate to post here :zlove:

I haven't got one yet, but have been a fan of the Z shape for years. I admired the Z31's as a 3-5yr old (i have a Modern Motor May 88 Edition where they tested the 300ZX MA71 Supra and S4 RX7 which i have treasured for many years). I wanted a 280ZX when i was on my p's, but still back in 2002/03 it was too hard to find one, i played around with corollas, commodres, and when it came time to buy a boosted car, I chose the R33 S2 Skyline simply due to it being a newer car. Now i'm over the R33 and i want a car with sunroof or targa top, and the opportunity to buy a Z31 Californian Body has come up from a family friend so i decided screw it im selling the R33 to get it im only 22 once. Plus how many ppl can say they owned a car they dreamed of owning as a 5yr old.

If that deal falls through ill get a Z32 TT 2+2

I looked at a huge number of different cars before I decided on the Z.

    I looked into:

Mk3 Supra, too old and not that nice

Series IV + V RX-7, Well they looked OK from the outside, the interior was rubbish, and I didn't really fit :( First one I test drove had a blown apex seal

180SX, Where demanding toom much money back then, specially compared with the Z which was the bigger brother

Porsche 944, Butch styline with that magical word written across the back  Couldn't find one in good nick with low k's for a price that I was even close to affording

Porsche 928, Same as above :(

300ZX, good styling, targa and my GF's dad had 2 for sale :p Got it for a good price so I couldn't say no!

Really if I had my time again I should have kept my little 'rolla and saved up and bought a M3 or a 2000 model RX-7...

i used to want a 944 (924 was too unacceptably ugly). Then it was explained how it was just a poor mans Porsche designed to compete with the RX7 at the bottom end of the market, and as such, many Porsche clubs WONT LET YOU JOIN if you have a 924 or 944 as they are not seen as "true Porsches" lol

Still... a 944 TURBO is damn tempting at times. Price isn't too bad now. Revisited that idea before buying the Zed. Funny what cars show up on the budget radar now ;)

944 Turbo's are absolute BEASTS! They run something crazy like 1.6bar standard  In the wet they get wheelspin in the first 4 gears

I know acouple of people who own 944's, and they all say that they handle SO much better than a 911 of the same vintage. They had perfect weight distribution too.
