Pete will be there I assume...

Print off some of the workshop manual, it is quite detailed in that regard.

I've got the tension wrench sorted and I know how to torque down heads. ;)

The gasket kit should have 3 stage torque settings printed on the packet.

listen to Chrispy. Angle torque, not just torque wrench, yes the book gives the option, but angle torque is more correct if prepared properly. Chrispy is almost an engineer, he'll explain the reasons for it.

You like rubbing that in don't you Vic :p

Angle torquing ensures that you have equal tension in the bolts. Torquing a bolt will give different tensions within the bolt depending on the condition of the threads, type and amount of lubrication and the condition and quality of the wrench. With angle torquing you ensure that the tolerance on the tension is much smaller by dong the bolts up the same amount of turns, rather than doing it up till it's a certain amount of 'hardness to turn'.

Yeah the most resistance is trying to overcome the friction of the actual threads and the seating surface of the bolt

It also works the other way too, if you use some super duper lubricant that really reduces the friction in theses areas then you can overtorque them just as easily as you can undertorqe, and thats no good with these fussy stretch bolts

I've seen people do it with a protractor and a breaker bar :p

So whats the jist of it? count the turns on each bolt? (very simplified)???
