Phillip Island turned on some almost perfect weather for the track day of the Nissan Nationals yesterday except for the strong headwind sown the main straight. There were lots of the aus300zx crew in action in their Zeds (plus Benny in his Skyline), all doing a great job of representing. I don't have any lap times, but they should be available at some stage today I would imagine. As usual things weren't east for the Z32 mob - ports had a fuel line issue on the first lap of the second session which sparked a red flag - JP & the slot car got pinged for noise - Wiz got black flagged at the end of the 2nd session for an oil leak - there were boost leaks on a few other cars Anyway, here's some pics (please excuse my crappy camera - it is the next thing to be upgraded): Old schoolers will remember this car Last time we saw this car at an MSCA event it went home on at least one cylinder less than it arrived with. Now it absolutely flies Nick from NSW Most of the Zed crew Caz Aza Fleet Wiz JP's Slot car Ports JP trying to resolve noise issues after being pinged by officials Aza tearing it up Blip flying across the back of the circuit Followed closely by Wykked JP chasing some old schoolers Ports Caz down the straight for the last time Wykked down the straight for the last time I also have a few short video clips, but the quality isn't all that good.
looks like it was a great day... damn those zeds were well presented.... all of them...well done col..... especially caz's and amecs car... well done guys
good stuff, col ... thanks heaps .. looking forward to the posting of some times ..... :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
Nice pics Col... I so wish I could have been there, but instead I'm sitting here at work How come JT didn't get a pic, that is his Z I can see isn't it?
I dont think JT had a run, or maybe he did the practice / 1st session.. He had his head thoroughly in the engine bay when I got there about lunch time. and I didnt see the car out on the track.
The answer is even simpler. I got distracted talking to people on my sweep along Zed row taking photos, and simply forgot which silver zed I'd taken photos of and which ones I hadn't!
Was a great day and alot of nice bloody looking zed's! alot of silver zeds there i bet Stu was in love though
Was a great day! I have some video footage to post up soon. as well as some nice piccies. I had to leave the group early (today) so i'll be able to post up my pics before most of them get back I also have other photos to share which ill stick in another thread Cheers, Andrew
Hurry up and post them Andrew your the mr camera man! hehe It was good to catch up with some people i already knew and meet some new people... To others that i didnt meet i'm sorry i am sky hehe
Top event Had an absolute ball both on and off the track. On the track the Skyline was extremely well behaved for it's first time out and everything went really well, I broke under 2 minutes which was my goal, so I'm happy. The brakes held up really well on the track (but not off it! Stranded on the way home!), the car was quick and I really enjoyed my first time on Phillip Island, it's a very fast and scary track. It was great to meet up with all my interstate friends plus make some new ones, that's always the best bit. Saturday night got way, WAY out of hand (I'm still feeling it), I'm pretty fearful of some photos which are floating around out there. I didn't go to the presentation but RedZedMikey SMS'd me some info of interest: - Jedi-77 took 3rd place and RoysZX 2nd place in the show and shine for their class - UniqueZed, Fleet and Caz scored trophies on the track for their classes - Craig (Renzed's boyfriend) took 2nd place at the show and shine in his class with his GTR - I took first place in my class on the track (which I was totally unprepared for), w00t!!! I had a caliper come off the car on the way home (I'm writing a review of the brakes for a few forums so I'll go into more detail then) which left me stranded, a massive thanks to BigCol (plus Nadine and lil' Angus!) for keeping me company on the side of the road, and to Wykked who sacrificed several hours to go get some new bolts and help get me home, you know who your friends are when you're in need.... Beer hooves totally work. Ben
looks like you guys n girls had a great time, i'm spewing i missed it, (next year), as it turns out i had a mate over from the east and took him back up to perth to fly out on the weekend, well, i hit some rain on the way back home and my Z started breaking down, seems like a lack of fuel or an electrical cutout, turbo gauge was showing boost but there was no power, also an intermittent total cutout of power like the motor was shutting down, limped the old girl home at about 90kph, anyway, i've had enough, the engine is coming out, will put it on datascan today to see what i can see, but one thing is for sure, if i had made the trip over east to the nationals, i would have been walking home, cheers, will meet you all next year, the black beast from the west will be finished by then ps, drove about 1300km on the weekend and would you believe i got pulled up by the filth about 80 metres from home for a random breath test and licence check, luckily was by a "local copper" and he said the car is a "bit too loud" lmao and to get it sorted, i said "no worries mate, will do" and the young trainee cop with him was real impressed with the car, also the old copper said he chased a 300zx once and couldn't catch it, lmao, (wasn't me)
Here are the times from the event: http://www.racetime.com.au/?event=p0703&e=g01&view=fastest Well done to JP on a 1:47.4 on his first outing at PI, that's an awesome result.. Nice to meet some of the other Zed crew, PORTS and Wizard... Well done, it was great weather for racing.....
What a great day its inspired me to do something different to the car or get another car just to race it... that 240 was great car but the driver made the difference to get that time...it was great to meet interstate zedders and have a beer with them after the event...cant wait to next years one
So are ya ready for the action shots ??? Here is a few of the 200 hi rez pics I took. I have no idea what I am going to do with the rest. If anyone who was racing wants a disk of all the pics (which are bloody good I have to say) Let me know. The real pics are 6 meg each. so no internet There are heaps that will blow up lovely into 16x20's
omg looks like sooo much fun, i really wanna take my car to the track one day, but whether my wallet will ever alow it is another question..
Thats caz setting up for a left hander. I like this one heaps. But I lost the front little bit off it. This was at the end of the straight and they where going about 160klms/hr. It was hard to track them. Gooooo Wizard !!!!!!!!! This is nice too.
