Best cruise in a long time! I had a great day, absolutly brilliant turnout. Great cars, Great roads, and best of all Great company! Huge thanks to Adian (Bion1c) for letting me tag along, (and letting me spend all day saturday clean his z! ) and to Jorge (Fradda) for letting me drive his beast along the first leg GOR! Great car mate, makes me want mine back even more... GOR 2008- FATZED will be there! Already looking forward to it! lol! Thanks to Bigcol for organising a fantastic day out, well planed and organised. Cheers James
just 4 u alex hey alex,i have 90 mins of dvd of the cruise, ill sort something out heres a present just 4 u :zlove:
I agree 100%, although off-setting that disappointment was the view of 30 zeds together. There are a few factors involved. Firstly, sometimes there is just more / slow / oblivious traffic on the GOR (as you would expect it is primarily a tourist drive), and we copped one of those slow days this time. Sometimes you get a really clear run, but you just can't plan for it 'cos it really is a lucky dip. Secondly, the earlier you can get on the GOR the better. We were running nearly an hour later than usual by the time we left Torquay, so I'm quite sure this had an effect. For BC's GOR #6 in Nov we might aim to leave at 9-9:15am, dispense with the 2 Geelong "regrouping points" and head straight through to Torquay. From there we should be in Apollo Bay for lunch by just after 12. After that we could do some more back-road stuff up Skene's Creek road which is where we went (& you loved) on GOR #3. p.s. Helga says you are still a wet rag...
of course we missed ya chris Sorry Chris it would have been nice to see u come along as there were no yellow zeds at all ,and nothing with a blow off valve like yours,im not used to driving around with no truck air brakes coming from the distance Hopefully you can get it fixed for the next gor cruise in a years time lol lol :zlove:
hopefully the cruise pimp (you ) can organsie a bbq for the local cruisers with ya. have been wanting to check out that backyard i have heard so much about and havent seen ya in ages
shall do it very soon Cool Chris, ill organise a bbq here and a cruise afterwards to the black spur which is about 45 mins from here, how does that sound ????? Should please the neighbours ,lol they just love it when the driveway is full off noisy zeds ,they mentioned how much they enjoy me having you all over in heated words last week over the fence,he crapped himself when (chris) romvg30dett stuck his head over and chatted with him lol
anytime col ill attend anything you organise whenever you want, cant wait to go again,i may be the cruise pimp ,but you are the cruise king :zlove:
Krausey on the 1st leg to geelong night fire's clean 2 seater zed army on the way to geelong first pitstop simon having a bit of a chat to the NA jedi master ryan's car, his old man getting out (awsome dad btw, knows a fair bit about our cars) pitstop #2 zeds as far as the eye can see view @ torquay badxtc's interior, i just love it. col's clean 2+2 flash's black zed. one of my favourites. ron's TT with extended rear wing. more great views start of the final leg, everyone pulled over to wait for bion1c and zealous whom unluckily got picked for a RBT. ron's 959 zed. had a great run with him through the final forest leg. i'm hoping krausey has some footage return leg on the highway (chad, myself and krausey all being a tad nauty spanning all 3 lanes. the boys all heading home after a hard day's driving thanks again col for a great day of driving.
and that neighbor of yours is lucky I wasn't there to hear what he said to emma!! I heard kathy let him know all about it!! It was a great drive Col and a pleasure to be there, my auto's second gear got a hefty workout
Can anyone host my PICS??? Thanks for the great day guys.. had a great time meeting up and getting to know a few people. Had some good fun on the drive but there was quite a bit of traffic. You guys missed out on the way back, we took the turnoff heading out of apollo bay and had wiiiiide open roads back to geelong on the twisties through the forest Yeah that CRV SUCKED!!! GRR!! I have a stack of photos i have generated into an online photo album, but i dont have any hosting space. Can anyone have 10MB spare hosting space i can upload these to??
2 more things... Firstly, i forgot to thank Tim (Lidz) & Rodd (Datzboy) for their help in leading the pack in certain stages along the way. And secondly the white zed is owned by RobertBarr.
What do you mean by online photo album? I signed up for photobucket last night, took about a minute. And Photobucket will generate the thumbnails for you, with the appropriate IMG tags. So u just cut and past the code into your post. And It will also resize your pics for you. Each picture can be a maximum of 1mb.
We (Roi and self in "DREDZ" ) also got pulled for a RBT (if you look really carefully around the bend right at the back of the pack you may be able to see a red blob (us) behind the white PC Landcruiser), but the PC was really great. Poor Rik had to explain that his licence was NOT provisional, which is why we did not have "P's" displayed on the car. I think it was Mr Plod's way of saying "I'm around, have fun but don't be stupid!" I saw him earlier in the afternoon when I went down to jump-start Hyper101's dead Zed (35 Zeds, many automatic, but only one set of jumper-leads (mine).... go figure!). I was parked nose-to-nose with the silver brick in the main street, hazard-lights flashing. He drove past, gave me a good, hard look, then waved. Next time I saw him (RBT stop) was on the only exit from town that has any interesting roads, which was obviously the way we were going to go! I think he's been in this situation before!
Great cruise, great day ....... but it had a downside . Really enjoyed the day as I love the GOR, and mostly due to me being interstate, I've missed all the previous ones. Once out of Torquay the roads were great, but that CRV ... . However, once past him/her, I had about 20km of road with no-one ahead until I caught up with Baroo. So I did get some decent fun in . Was good to see some old faces and familiar Zeds, along with those I hadn't seen before as well. I also had an RBT and licence check by Mr Plod after leaving Apollo Bay - all the other guys had already gone except for Wykked ... no I wasn't speeding! Didn't give the camera much of a workout, but here we have Wykked taking a piccy of me taking a piccy of him! It's easier when you're a passenger. Gotta say I don't quite agree with those that thought the tourists having a gander at Blinky Bill were a problem. Should remember that it IS a tourist road, and anything could be around the next bend. I doubled back 'cos i thought these 2 characters coming out to check all the Zeds out was quite cool! Just as well Oni wasn't there 'cos he might have gotten ideas about a new hat . Unfortunately the day didn't end quite so nicely. Whilst overtaking a Commodore something let go ..... this was between Torquay and Geelong. Russ (Zedhed) had the second best view of what happened, more smoke than a Victor Bray burnout . This cleared up quickly, and I drove slowly to Geelong, but once there decided that a towie was in order. This is the first time I've ended a cruise like this ..... Zeds aren't supposed to behave like this dammit! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rvaVyjnovE Oh well, I've had 7 years and about 160,000km without any real motor problems. The shitter is that this happened now, 6 weeks before the Nats. Got some thinking/planning/budgeting to do - can't say if RedZed'n'me will be getting any on-track action at Phillip island or not. Chad - you wondered if I had decided to the respray or the motor first. Errrm - I think it will be the motor! However, Col - if GOR 2007 #2 happens in November - count on me coming back for some repeat action. Cheers, Mikey.
