Thought I would start an idea section, since we all seem to be filling the GOR cruise with posts about ideas for another one (BADZX's idea) The GOR at night does stand out as a big one to me (sound of the ocean at night next to the sound of ZX engines), that would be unreal. We could probably group together and work out something crazy for a Ballarat cruise (BigCol's idea) , work it in with Bendigo (RENZED) maybe. Few nice Scenic roads through Lal Lal and Magpie. Maybe a good few points to get a good photoshoot in as well. (BADZX) But also the GOR backwards, since we all experienced it one way on the day, might be cool to do it backwards. I am happy to help out too if need be. I have no life but the one I live in my ZX :zlove: Maybe we should look at one for June/July?

My ideas I'm keen to do a countryish sort of cruise.... so somewhere near ballarat / bendigo is fine with me.... or somewhere else nice and scenic.... The GOR backwards sounds nice, but we have done that before in previous years and having just done the GOR, I dont want to do it again straight away.... Also, I'm not interested in a night cruise. I would only attend if it was during the day. Cheers
agreed. if it were to be a big cruise like the g.o.r then itd have to be during the day. otherwise night one you will not get the numbers...
Haha nice photo, I can see you look so happy, love the shot of your ZX in that one Seems like some of us are thrown between the two. Ballarat has some nice back roads, through ceres and stuff like that. Since most of us are looking to go that way, and some of us are sick of the GOR at the moment, might be an idea to look at Ballarat. Although I am always up for any type of cruise, even if it is the GOR again, but thats me Kingy and Simon by the sounds of things Im sure I could work out some big place for us to do a crazy photo shoot at, and if we want we could always go up Mt. Buninyong and have lunch at the look out point, and photoshoot our cars from the point.
GOR is a big event because it's once a year. i'd personally like to keep it that way. bendigo or ballarat is ok with me. chad stop hot linking my photos! :bash:
Seems like Ballarat and Bendigo might be the way to go, my only other thing is, where would people like to start it from? I am happy to drive to Melbourne from Geelong (myself) and then drive to Ballarat from Melbourne (So we'd start in Melbourne .) Just give me a yell about where you want to start from, and we can see where most people are. Ok Simon obviouslly wants to drive around a mountain, then over a bridge, then off the edge of the bridge. Trying to think of somewhere that offers that.
My thoughts: Leave the GOR alone. Part of what makes it special is that we do it big once a year and if we over do it then it isn't special any more. Lets see some interesting and scenic roads in daylight so we can enjoy them to their fullest. Lets also incorporate enough time to socialise, so a nice break for lunch or stops at photo spots is definately needed. If there is considerable driving required to get to the cruise location then keep that in mind, spending 2 hours in the car just to get to a location so I can spend another 2 hours driving with another 2 hours to get home afterwards doesn't sound like too much fun. There are great roads all over Vic, along with great locations to explore and photograph, but half the fun is doing it with other zedders, so keep that in mind when planning anything. We are a social group so lets have so social activities.
Sounds like great guidlines to stick by on cruises. So everyone would be cool with a few scenic country roads? I would say lunch before 3PM sounds like a decent idea too, and maybe a few more stops so we don't have people screaming for V-Power fuel
Well I'm happy with Ballarat/Bendigo ...I remember a while back a few people were interested in Daylesford, is that still? If so, what is the main interest here? Craig organised a trip to Mt Franklin...and I personally think this would be a great photoshoot location again, provided it was a beautiful sunny day..here are a couple of shots with some of our Bendigo friends: Also, Ballarat, Daylesford and Mt franklin are pretty close by (check out google maps)..so that might be an idea..
There were some pretty nice roads on that cruise we went on with you guys and it was not really too bad a drive to get there either.
OK, Ballarat -(to)> Bendigo seems like the plans, when are people wanting to look at doing the cruise? I am not fussed as to when. By the sounds of what I am hearing everyone wants it sooner than later?
Well we have already gone west down the gor, but have we gone south east? down to the likes of rye or maybe even willsons prom or phillip island?
I was thinking to myself before about Phillip Island, but most of our countryish members are to the west, and they'd have to drive a good 200kms+ just to get to the meeting point. I don't know if they would be looking at doing that or not. Any ideas welcome though
Yeah Phillip Island is getting a bit too far for my likings..as for the time of event, well as I mentioned, I think it would be better if the weather was nice and sunny..so maybe after winter? But that's just my opinion..cause if we go in the winter weather..watch out for black ice
