QLD The Week After Warwick - What to do ???

Jen and I are staying at Rob's place in Southport until the Friday morning. With a three day drive to get to QLD and a three day drive to get home I'm not that interested in a big cruise, but a nice drive to somewhere for lunch could be fun.

 

Byron! Of course you'll have accomodation, even if you have to snuggle up with me Might make Benny jealous that's all, he'll get over it

All you southerners can come and help me get the Z working

 

i had something organised but then i disappeared for 6 months so i would be surprised if it is still available, i will sleep on someones floor, i will probably just turn up, but 80% sure i will be there

 

Lynn and I were also considering coming back via the GC, so could be interested in something.:zlove::zlove:

Well, as a matter of fact, Sue and I might go to the GC afterwards too. We initially said we would, then not, but now with everybody going I think we will.

We usually stay on the beach at Burleigh Head or at the Sandrift in Miami (Nobby) a bit away from the hustle and bustle

 

Nobbys have the BEST thai restaurant there.... yummm

 

.. i see the need for a CHARDY SHACK spectacular emerging here ... !!!!!

.. all these interstaters ... and an empty pool/surrounds .. too good to let go ...???

QLD SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: from dept of education website ...

easter: friday, 10 april until monday 13 april ... then followed by:-

autumn vacation: tuesday, 14 april until sunday, 19 april ....

so, yep, school hols for the week following easter ... but do think that we should be able to handle that ...???

 

Leia and I are heading to the Gold Coast for the week after the Nationals, too (as discussed with Oz over dinner on Wednesday night)...

We intend to hit Sea World, Dream World, Wet 'n' Wild and a GC beach or two... So catching up with some QLD locals, having a cruise (or two) and visiting the 'Chardy Shack' (like we could pass up that offer, Black Baz!!!) sounds like a party!

Keen to see what comes...

so, slowly to the quick ... a quick whiparound of the post Warwick visitors to the Gold Coast and the consensus is that a CHARDY SHACK night would best be held on the Tuesday night (14 April) immediately following Warwick ...

.. this, then serves as an early heads up to all visitors, all QLD/BRISBANE/G-COAST zedders, spouses, partners and all ... lock Tuesday, 14 April into your diary for a "SHACK" big, big welcome to our interstate ZED visitors ..

.. a separate thread will be opened closer to the event .. be in it ... !!!!

Im planning to stay up for an extra week or two taking some annual leave that has built up, hoping that maybe I can go around taking some photos, but would love if anyone is interested in showing me around QLD as I havent been since i was ten...any ideas?

 

It is a big place Andy. Anything you particularly want to see?

 

Sounds like a great idea Baz, even though it's a mid-week do, i'm sure a few people here are planning on having an extended long weekend anyway, particularly a lot of southerners that are up here. I'm 99% in at this point mate. will confirm a bit later on in the piece, but looking pretty solid atm, and i'd hate to miss a Chardy Shack event.

 

Of course the theme parks are nice, but I havent seen the natural sights or that sort of thing. Was talking to a mate at work who use to live in QLD and was talking about how different the car scene is there...but Im not after anything in particular, just hoping to get some nice memories

 

yep, benny ... unfortunately unavoidable as a mid-week event ......

... we did look closely at a saturday event as per past practice ... but most visitors were not staying on until saturday .. further consideration included later in the week but this meant a heap of zedders heading south with hangovers, plus, plus ...????

so, we suffering QLDers will just have to sacrifice ... waarrrgghhh ..!!!!
