That kink in the bonnet may lead to some other nasty stuff not yet seen. No trans fluid or coolant all over the bottom? The stock nissan suspension arms rarely brake with out being impacted. Only other thing I can think of to spit it off the road would be fluids leaking and covering the rear tyres. Bad luck Alex, hopefully insurance sorts you out.
No coolant, tranny fluid that I've seen so far power steering fluid was spraying around a bit. I'm guessing the arm is stock, interestingly bobjane had told me many times that exact rim was buckled and it did have a lot of gutter rash, maybe its not stock... Eric if it comes down to getting quotes on engine repairs I'll be giving you a call... not sure how this all works yet i was a rating 1 driver.
.. that is bad news, Alex .... feel for you .... hope things work out as you have put a lot into that machine .......
Front doesn't look all that bad, i'd be more worried about the rear. Your zed is a nice car i don't think it would be a write off...better not be too good of a car.
the rear should be fine, the side engine bay panels are pushed back slightly and what scares me is I can see the silicon joins on the intake pipes and turbo outlets have been compressed a couple of mm or so. The bonnet does shut and latch just very unevenly. Praying my new Z1 inter-coolers aren't ruined.
Yeh sorry to see that. Mine was my 1st and 'crosses fingers' only... accident. Must of sucked being stranded mate, although I had the pleasure of having at least 20 zeds pass my battered purple car whilst paying their respects. Doesn't look too bad, fingers crossed... you're very lucky not to have done more panel damage.
The front looks pretty bad. Glancing blows like that have the ability to twist the front chassis rails quite badly. I think you will find that the two front rails are now pointing right instead of straight. That is a bloody hard fix. Good luck, but its not looking good.
how ironic,a kid who smashes up his n/a and loses his licence multiple times for hooning giving out advice hope all works out for you disasterpiece, looks like a bit of hidden damage there
A friend of mine owns a body shop so hopefully if it can be repaired between him and A2Z for everything else it can be saved.. I'm hoping.
if the inner guards are bent then thats bad news, means it will need chassis straightening. Is this going to be an insurance repair? if so they might end up writing it off. the stock suspension arms very rarely break and if one did it still wouldnt have the effect you are describing.
Insurance is still to look over it, if they write it off I'll buy it back and have my mates body shop have a go at it. I don't know what did or didn't break yet I'm away in Sydney. From what I looked at directly after the crash, radiator still sits fine, radiator airguide isnt bent at all, no leaking coolant/oil, intercooler piping looked fine, enginebay side panels arent twisted at all just moved slightly. Zero damage to the body around the rear left wheel, not a scuff.
Just got a call from the body shop doing the inspection for my insurance company and the chassis is FINE :bow2::zlove:
I'm interested to hear a bit more detail on the accident. Was it raining? What sort of tyres are you running? Did you notice anything unusual about the road suerface (gravel, worn smooth, greasy)?
