will the king springs leave the car at a definately legal height?... don't want to do this then get defected!
I can't answer that question NightFallTech. All figures quoted from Spring manufacturers are compared to new stock springs. Which none of us have. Our cars are all at different stages of wear/spring sag, so each one will respond differently to suspension mods.
hmm well... what is the stock height of a Z with new OEM prings? (ie minimum ground clearance?) .. does anyone know?
I may be able to answer this. From what ive been told the kings will put the front right on the limit and the rear completly legal as it still sits just a tad higher in the rear, reason being when the z goes it squatts down and evens out when your driving....just what ive been told. So common people lets get on board and make this happen.
Hey caz...reguarding the Kings.. Whats the lowest springs that King do?...as I cant afford coilovers as much as I want them right now? I want the rear tyres to sit just slighty under the arches.. Whats the drop on the kings super low?..or is there a lower spring they offer? And price if you supply them? Thanks mate! Ben
I'm interested in a set of KYB AGX shocks plus springs. Unsure which springs I want just yet. Can you tell me how much better the tanabes are than the king springs? and why? Thanks. Edit: Also I forgot to ask, are there any other things like rubber seals/anything minor or tiny that will need replacing when I fit the new shocks?
I am still semi interested. Just money for the mean time. Im afraid i wont be able to pay for atleast a few months. If it goes ahead in the future im in, other than that sorry i cant help. Good luck, look like very good shocks.
hey caz how are we for numbers? Im pretty desperate for shocks now, but dont want to spend the 1k for these. Any idea on an individual price for a set instead of the minimum 5 if thats the case?
Hi ChronoXXX, Spring difference is in weight, height(tananbe's are lower),what they are made with and the manufacturing process which results in two quite different products. Both King springs and Tanabe are good products, just different. KING drop 30mm front and back King Springs are coiled on a variable speed coiling machine. After being coiled, the spring enters the quenching oil to be hardened. The electronic tempering furnace then tempers the spring. TANABE GF210 rate front 3.4kg per mm / rear 3.8kg per mm DROP front 40mm / rear 30mm Tanabe performance coil springs have an extremely high tensile strength of 2100nm using only cold formed steel. A cold winding process maintains a very low temperature to wind the spring. Most springs are manufactured using a hot winding technique, which heats the spring to a very high temperature to soften the material and make easier to wind. High heat, even for small amounts of time, unfortunately causes a detrimental side effect of causing the internal molecular structure of the steel to expand, which in turn weakens the overall strength. By maintaining a low temperature during our winding process, the internal structure is kept tightly packed, which maintains the steel's strength. Cold winding is the best process for producing a spring with extremely high tensile strengths. COLD TEMPERING The coil springs are processed through a machine which keeps them at a specific, constant low temperature for an exact amount of time. This process is monitored closely to ensure that temperatures do not vary so all remaining internal resistance at the molecular level is removed, and the spring increases its strength. TRUE INDIVIDUAL SHOT PEENING This machine is unique in that the coil springs are processed individually to ensure maximum and even coverage during the shot peen process. The coil spring is run through two unique shot peen processes. This patent pending process for true individual double shot peening is unique to the Tanabe Shiga factory. I havent had King Springs in my car so I can't compare them to the Tanabe GF210's which I love! I wouldnt want my car any lower than she sits with the Tanabe's. I can supply King Springs for $255 set of 4 , no GB needed. Tanabe's $435.00 /4. We didnt use any new seals or bumpers when we fitted the AGX and Tanabe combo. We trimmed the bump stops. Caz..
Hi Pete, There seem to be a few possibly interested in the KYB AGX Adjustable shocks.: Strom Chronoxxx Axearmor carzone Dr Z and MikeMD for fronts only. I will drop them all PM's and see if they are currently definites and get pricing on those numbers. Thanks for your patience Pete, Caz..
