Ben - Can I suggest running the cruise on the 3rd of March to coincide with the VIC cruise. NSW/WA might also be able to organise one for the same day? I know its further away in terms of getting money but it gives people enough time to roster off for work or keep it free hence more people attending and getting more donations. Most people will probably make a one off donation now (being January)... so holding a cruise in March will mean another wave of donations to help Eric along. Just my suggestion (plus I will be back from overseas and will be able to attend :zlove Also another suggestion - if you do decide to leave it a little later till March and do decide to run it through Mt glorious/Fernvale... you may also be able to notify the businesses and community of the event.... maybe hold a sausage sizzle in a park in fernvale etc and get some community involvement from them???
WA suggestions I propose in WA a cruise is run (can be other states too of course) like everyone is suggested with a bbq at a dam or such... $5 for a sausage in bun, $10 for a burger $3 for a soft drink Yes inflated prices but its a fundraiser not a soup kitchen. The other option I suggest is we do a quiz night.... I have a big back yard and I have a holiday house in Mandurah with a massive garage/yard that i would have no issue using for a quiz night.... I propose that tables are filled from members + members friends/family... tables of 6, $100 a table or something.... bbq (see above) and beers on sale for $5 or such.... All chip in as much as we can to supply tables, chairs etc etc to keep costs down and we should be able to raise some serious coin If people want to donate some prizes I'm sure we can talk to a few business's and get some give aways etc... bit of a fun way to raise some money? WA had 30 odd members turn up on the weekend so there's a good 10 tables before you even think about drinks, food silent auction etc etc I also don't see the drama in most cruises for the next year ending in a bbq in the same way... if the aim is to cover rent etc for the workshop on an ongoing basis then a bbq at the end of a cruise would be a nice thing to do I feel. I am happy to offer services to supply a bbq and snags at any location for the end of the cruise etc.
That sounds good to me Ash, if that works for everyone else then we call it. Your setting the standards pretty high there mate! Other states might have to lift their game! Challange accepted! We still need an organisor for Victoria and perhaps any regional areas that might be interested (help your states combined total - makes things interesting).
Well I'm more than happy to be an organiser for VIC seeing as though this was my idea in a way. But it seeing as though Mick is doing the Goldfields run on the 3rd of March, to which we are getting a good attendance, I guess Mick should be? He knows a mate along the run whom has a big shed and apparently we will do a BBQ there. Plus we are visiting a hotrod museum where we will charge double ($10) and each extra $5 will go in the kitty! I'm not sure on BBQ prices yet but I'm sure that'll work out sooner or later This is getting good interest guys and gals! I'm glad I'm a part of a car community that can show such compassion! Bloody awesome
More the merrier! Perhaps if you would like to contact Mick and work together.. Many hands and all that! a smiley face and 10x :zlove: (s).. This is a fundraiser - unless there is a business(s) or a overstocked parts hoarder that would like contact us and get involved? (go on you know you want to... Think of the good publicity you will be getting!!)
3rd is good for a NSW cruise, will start looking at some routes etc... I have a family wedding tomorrow and an exam next Tuesday so my attention is somewhat divided at the moment, but I promise to get something set in concrete by 3rd Feb so as members have plenty of time to organise themselves
I'm up for something like this. haven't got a zed still but ill bring another car out just for this. personally i currently am in the position that i could give out $100. but in this time i don't think a lot of others are. i am a uni student living at home and working part time. its actually not that bad if you think about it. very little bills. free accommodation most of your food is paid for. i actually save a lot more living at home then i do living out. anyway. i think $30 to participate plus $20 for each passenger and a small fee for the map would not go down too bad. if someone down in vic would like to organize something i am more then willing to help out with planning and things.
So we have the following cruises planned for the 3rd March.... VIC - Goldfields cruise - MickW - entry fee for museum and BBQ lunch QLD - Evil Twin to organise - entry donation and BBQ lunch NSW - Rob260 to organise - entry fee and BBQ lunch WA - Josh are you putting your hand up to organise this one?? or is anyone else interested? SA - ??? ACT - ???
Happy to organise cruise and collect donations/organise stickers etc, but I can't host a BBQ. Anyone in nsw/Sydney able to help out with this aspect? Otherwise I'll suss out some parks or something..
is there any park/bbq's with a good carpark near a beach or something , surely being in NSW, you got some beaches
And parking for 20 cars? Something like the Nasho, Wiseman's Ferry, Bobbin Head, Fagan Park all come to mind but gotta check facilities. Pm anything else you can think of -ideas much appreciated
If all states could organise to do a BBQ lunch in a public park somewhere.... if we are organised enough we can get onto the local newpapers and maybe even turn it into a brief, impromptu show and shine for the public.... ask for the donation to be able to admire our cars and they could also purchase lunch If we can get it happening on the same day in all states maybe even sending something into a current affair to get them to run the story.... community group coming together to support a member most of which people dont know... raise awareness of the issue thoughts??
not a bad idea.. I still have a fair few contact details from radio and TV from PSS days I can hit up for a quick interview etc... if that was the case then I'd be inclind to set up a quick easy webside just saying what its about and a donation thing... if you get publicity then quite often people are keen to help out. Some of my contacts are AM station which often = older foke who are more willing to part with $$ for a good cause then younger people
Billy & Cam, I'm more than willing to help out with anything thats needed. I do shift work so dont get a lot of free time but whenever I'm free I'm more than happy to help. I'm still unsure if ill have a day off on the 3rd, plus i have a car show on the 2nd for MS kids, so ill be showing my support there. Either way I'm more than happy to donate the money & time. Abraham
