Has anyone on the forum actually sucessfully fitted the Goodridge Braided brake lines that are floating around at the moment. They are supposed to be a Z32 specific kit but everything about them seems wrong. ie length and lack of mounting ferrules... Ive seen 2 kits so far.. different suppliers, same product, however some had anti whip collars and date tags some didnt. Cheers Stu
No goodridge lines that I have seen have mountings on them, but the lengths have been correct. Which are you reffering to? The fronts or the backs?
what is every one on about , buy them from z1 motorsports , i bought mine from them they cost less that any of you are paying and they had the anti whip things or what ever they are called and they had the mounting thing on the line. went on perfectly with no problems straight away
I guess i should have searched, theres been a few threads on this already. and its all pretty much bad news, ill be returning them.
The rears are about twice as long as they need to be. Stu and I were at Grahams factory this morning and I wanted to get my brake lines fitted but we couldn't figure out how to fit them properly. We were looking at this tech article: http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.475 The rear lines in that tech article don't require the removal of the stock hard line that comes off the rear calipers. Also the fronts didn't have the clips on them so that they can be secured. Graham got JP from UAS on the phone but he couldn't help us. Are the lines from Z1 adr approved? The only reason I bought the brake lines from the UAS GB was because they are ADR approved.. they need to have the collars and the label which shows the date and standard they were made to. The ones I got from UAS are ADR approved (I showed them to the guys at Racebrakes and they confirmed that they were ADR approved) as they have both these things. The only thing they're missing is the mounting points for the front lines... which is annoying because it's supposed to be a Z32 specific kit but I can't use it unless I can secure those lines on the front.
Tech articles aren't the be-all and end-all. I removed the hardlines on my rears and installed the braided lines directly into the caliper. Works fine. I think your all a bunch of sooks
Remind me not to ride in your car. If you remove the support bracket there is WAY to much free play in the line. It hangs dangerously low down near the lower wishbone arm. Remember THESE ARE YOUR BRAKES. YOU DONT TAKE SHORT CUTS WITH THESE. THE fact these are ADR approved doesnt mean shit unless they are able to be used to directly replace the stock lines.
Really? I remember him posting some time ago saying that's how he fits them. It's not exactly a way out there thing to do What lines is he using on the slot car?
I got it straight from the horses mouth (so to speak) yesterday when I called him. I dont know what is on the slot car. But I do know I wont be responsible for fitting these to someones car like they are. They really aint good enough IMO.
this is all getting very confusing I want to upgrade my brake lines,does anyone know a direct fit,no bullshitting around set that is on the market (plug and play) coz sells 3 types,z1 sells another ?????
geez so if theses brake lines dont fit does it mean i can take mine back and get a refund? have not even installed them or anything from the GB last year just sitting here with all the other things to be installed lol
The GB ones fit, if they didn't my car wouldn't stop and I wouldn't be writing this. Graham is having a sook because they don't come with little clips to mount them on the standard mounts. The pictures on the original GB are quite clear with what was included. I wouldn't be giving money back to people... I wouldn't put them on someone elses car as I wouldn't want to be responsible if something went wrong, I definitely see where you are coming from there. I won't work on anyones brakes outside of chainging pads and bleeding.
I think the point of this is that we go to great lengths to get an important item like brake lines to upgrade,only to find that yes ,they are adr approved,but stupidly have to be held in place with cable ties .Sort of defeats the purpose doesnt it ??
Its not the "little clips" that are the problem. Its these. This is the Z1 kit, The rear lines are the right length, and the front lines have the two mounting ferruls fitted. THESE ARE YOUR BRAKES, DONT TAKE RISKS. The support brackets where put there by Nissan for a reason. They are required and should be used. You cant and shouldnt dodgy up this stuff. If they actually fitted in place of the OEM pipes I would not hesistate to fit them. But they dont and shouldnt be used. ADR approved or not.
