The point i'm trying to make with this round

about is that your car's geometry changes as you dodge the round about or even if you decide to go around it - whatever, especially at speed.

Now, if your car's suspension is not well maintained, if you are inexperienced and fooling around then even super expensive tyres won't save you.
What matters more is driving to the conditions, be it environmental, your cars ability, your own ability.
It appears that there are mixed feelings about Kumhos, Id say these reflect peoples driving style.
For eg. the tyres I replaced on the rear of my car were down to the indicators. I hated driving in the wet but still never came close to a mishap. Again, I put it down to driving style.

I must admit though, If i was into flooring my car at every opportunity, hammering around corners, tailgating every commodore & ford on the freeway, I would think big time about my choise of tyres!

So please understand the roundabout test was a test for myself to realise that even having $300 dollar tyres I could still loose the car the same way as having normal tyres and not to take them for granted. It also made me realise that driving ability has a lot to do with it as well as the car's ability. Not to mention environmental factors such as rain etc...

Sorry to crap on but I see too much tailgating on the F3 and I too cop it @130 and cannot help it but think that nothing is going to save these people if the car in front happens to brake suddenly. :x Not even 2million dollar tyres.

    Kalus Finally dug myself out

as a comparison, 711's are absolute garbage

I bought 2 for the rear for the Gilgandra trip, and while very well priced ($125 each fitted) they just don't grip at all. At the drags last Wednesday, I actually got wheelspin at 150k's in 3rd, and that's on a road that's supposed to be the stickiest anywhere. Haven't had any experiences in the wet, and I don't want any :)

I was just talking straight line

I was not even getting into cornering and breaking.
To me you should be able to use more than ¼ throttle in the wet without the back end trying to move into another lane.
I have an auto 300ZX with just a pod filter and boost running 13.5psi and I can not get traction on a dry track with good quality road surface in a straight line when using anymore that ¾ throttle with Kuhmo 712's.
Motor magazine did do a review on performance tyres and found kuhmo's rated 13th out of 14 tyres, not exactly a glowing recommendation. This gave some validation to my already formed opinion I had of Kuhmo.I understand that no everyone wants to race and there are some great budget tyres out there but kuhmo is not one of them.

    Well, hold the line enough

Not too go too far sideway, that's in second gear. Nice controllable slides. Like a pro ice skater. I should be faster than most guys in the wet. :D I dont' recommend this to anyone though. Not if you still want to keep your car.:-Z

    Toyo has good recomendation

But the tests results aren't too good. So I got mixed feelings here. The NZ 300 guys highly recommend them. I'll probably use it for drags only.
