hes not looking to make money out of it! and in a similar boat to me, i have an n/a i cant drive turbo because i lost my liscence and when i got my new liscence after it expiring got done by the new p plate law's and could not drive my turbo skyline no more, i applied for the letter and was denied because i had lost my liscence once for speeding and another time for a burnout, now im stuck with my n/a zed till oct 13 2009, and in that time i cant help but spend money on my zed, ive just ordered some brembo rotor's and pads, some after market suspension, and have a few more things on there way, and also ordering parts along the way for a conversion, and every one says, why convert an na to a tt you can sell it and get a tt for the same price, well i have this car for another year and a half, and I want to spend my time and money on it, because i like it, when i brought it, it was the car i chose because i liked it, so dont intend on giving it up for a car which i may not like as much, pretty much all of us have 300zx's here, but they are not all the same, infact all of them are very different! and i bet a very small amount of them are stock standard. (and if it is a specific way he likes it to look or something dont say its so easy to get another one to look the same, you can spend thousands getting a car too look a specific way, been there done that, after body kit's not a cheap veilside copy for $500, rims, lowering, paint, interior, stereo, etc you can go into thousands)

if he is that in intent on that speficic car because he likes it then why not? he can run it as an n/a for the allocated time he has his p's and then come time he has his blacks, well its all ready to become a tt again, and he dosnt have to give up the car he has loved for 2 years or whatever to have a TT! i cant stand how some people can make it sound so easy to find the specific car they want! its not, i spent a few months looking for the one i ended up purchasing, and i didnt even have a car to drive in that time, as my other vehicle is in a workshop in the middle of a engine rebuild. so yeh i think if this one is special to you, its worth the extra money to make it an na, and but i wouldnt touch compression etc keep it so you can easially have it go back to a tt :)

they haven't affected him, coz he's obviously smart enough to have his OWN car hoist, and all the right TOOLS, before having a car to put on the hoist, or use the tools on. At least he chose a suitable forum nic". The mods really should just shut this thread down. It is becoming so repetative, regardless of the amusement factor,

stop aggrevating forum members for pitys sake!

Long story short, good idea if you want to sink 10 grand into a car and have absolutely nothing special to show for it in 3 or 4 years time when you convert back to TT. And during that time, you will have the slowest, most ridiculous 300zx on the roads. End of story.

I say do it, i'd like to see if it's possible. However i wouldn't do it myself and i still think it's silly

Toolman, nobody on this forum goes out of their way, to bag, belittle, or insult, any other member, who posts a thread, looking for advice. There are a lot of members on here, with extensive experience/knowledge of the 300zx, both na, and turbo. You must admit, the original question you asked, was just a little, 'off the planet', considering your circumstances, and the new licencing laws. The posts that followed, were filled with logical reasons, as to why this project wasn't really viable, in terms of the costs involved, and also included options, should you still wish to proceed with it. If you had of explained a little about the car, and why it was this particular car, that you have your heart set on, then, ppl may have understood a little better. But, your attitude toward a few members, who were only trying to help, was uncalled for, in which case, you left the door open, for a few sarcastic replies to be posted. As for myself, I bought my zed in 2003, and really wish I had known about this forum, prior to buying it, because it would have given me the 'heads up', on exactly what it was I was, that I was buying. I'm 40 now, and have learnt a hell of a lot, from the younger members on this forum, who continually like to tinker with their toys, and also post solutions to the problems that can, and will arise, with this particular car. One of the best things about this forum, and its members, is, there is a wealth of knowledge, all aimed at saving you money, while at the same time teaching you about the more technical side of the 300zx. It's a hell of a lot easier, and cheaper, learning things from the guy n gals on this forum, rather than learning later, that you just got ripped of blind, by a mechanic, or by nissan themselves. All I have to do now is learn a little about the 2 hair dryers under the bonnet, and how to set the boost controller up properly, and then you see another, extremely happy zedder. Yes, I am still a tappet head, and a bit of a hoon, but that's what puts the smile on face, as well as practising to drift the zed, lol. So toolman, just chill out, and lighten up on the ppl trying to help you.

    cheers,

    Andy.

PS; Sorry for the essay guys, just one of those things, :zlove:

Can we put this one to bed yet??????????
