I wouldnt recommend lying to an insurance company

They do check your record for traffic offenses etc when it comes time to process a claim and if you havent been honest then no cover.

    such a 'passionate' subject!!!

I didn't realise my little 'whinge' would invoke such a diverse response!!!:embarrassed: and I especially didn't want it to cause any friction...'CHILI' & 'method'...please kiss and make up!!;)

I spoke to Shannons yet again and basically to cut a long story short I'm screwed because of the area I live in!

They say I can't compare premiums between other members here as each is unique to that particular situation! ...yet they will judge Carlton on 'general statistics' with regard to theft and other car related incidents/accidents etc but will not consider my individual situation when it comes to where I keep my car parked safely???? I drove my girlfriend mad when we were house hunting to make sure I had an ultra safe off street park for my Zed...we even paid more rent to ensure this!! but Shannons will not take this into consideration???

Perhaps I will take WYKKED's knowledgeable advice and go and see them with the car in person?....might even take the stealth approach and say I'm looking for a new quote instead of telling them I already am insured with them?? always thought honesty was the best policy....but then??

Apart from that I will just have to ring around....and if I can't find a better option then I will just have to take my medicine and be done with it!!...even if that medicine does feel a little like a suppository being rammed up my backside!!!

Anyway thanks for letting me get ALL of this off my chest!! As I said I will post my findings with regards to quotes in the hope that next time a newbie like myself does a 'search' for insurance topics they can have a read, a laugh, and hopefully learn a little as I have! Cheers everyone!

exactly, but only a uni education will get you that understanding which is

why mr poindexter man likes to disagree with everyone who has one in here.

Geez  .... you post some KRAP, Paul :LOL::LOL:

A Uni degree (if you have one) only proves you've studied and passed exams in a chosen field. It doesn't make you worldy-wise or elevate YOUR intelligence above peers.

From what little I understand of the LAW, a 'charge' doesn't lead to 'Criminal Record', unless 'convicted'. Can someone please elaborate?

while we're on the (off)topic of convictions/charges etc,

wonder if i can come in with a question for those who know of such things (uni degree or otherwise):

.... so i was arrested for being drunk in public (interesting how they can do this without even breathalysing you, more like a blanket law to throw whoever behind when they want). so i get put behind for 4 hours, and then released. get handed a sheet with a court date for the summary offence (or something like that), but the cop tells me not to go as its just a formality and i'd probably get a fine if i went, and there will be nothing on my record.

now i find out that as a result, i have a conviction against my name.

so was the cop just speaking shit to me, and what are the implications of a conviction for being drunk in public? :)

I will tell it to you like my barrister, a well known one at that told me.

I have charges against my name. It IS on record, just like everything else about everyone in here if you have ever done something wrong. Fingerprints do NOT get destroyed after 6months like they say, in fact, lots of things they say are done the opposite way.

I was charged but not convicted. Therefore, when I am being employed, if I am ever asked about any criminal offences, I MUST say I was charged, but NOT convicted. Shannons asked me this and unlike some people here I choose NOT to lie as it will probably do more harm than good. If you beg to differ, then speak to all the officers who were involved in it or better yet speak to a barrister.

Here is an elaboration on the REST of your comment K-zed

Funny how you say this because when CHILI bags having a uni degree, no one including yourself ever says "not having a uni degree, or having a uni degree doesn't make you worldy-wise or elevate YOUR intelligence above peers." You simply just agree with CHILI and become a narrow minded sucker.

There is some serious anal jabbing going on in this forum, and for the rest of it K-Zed, you really have no idea why I said that in the first place so keep out of it if you don't know what is going on.

50 is a lot, I never said the majority. If by any chance that 50 attended

gilgandra, half the people would have hated you

Stop trying to be a copper, actually I think I can sum it up. Once a copper, ALWAYS a copper in a mental way! Want proof? Speak to CHILI

Well who would have ever thought??

There you go Rob, a highly intelligent, superior being with a criminal record (his claim, not mine), with absolutely no idea as to what levels of education, you, I, or most other people on this forum may have attained, has just invited you to get lost. Don't you feel ashamed of yourself?
Your turn, but be gentle, afterall, he has suffered generations of racial discrimination at the hands of ignorant buffoons like us, so don't ask embarrassing questions like "how much did he pay to avoid conviction" (I hear that's how you get off charges, under our legal system).:wacko::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
