Do tell what rims you are thinking of? I shall give my honest and whole hearted opinion. Also, have you decided on a front bar yet? ab-flung or sticking with a re-sprayed NA front bar
I'm building a one off set of Autostrada Modena's. These were only available in 17". I'm picking up a set of faces (sourced already) and sending them off a four custom pairs of lips and barrels. Both will be stepped lip, up to 18" all 'round, probably 11" in the back and 10" in the front. Lips will be polished, centers likely unpolished and clear coated. Fasteners I'm suspecting will be copped dipped. Front bar isn't going anywhere, but I'm trying very hard to find an uncracked one. I'm considering a genuine Abflug rear bar after seeing this picture... It doesn't really fit in with my theme though. And I'd be lying if I said even a little interested in a TwinZ bolt on diffuser (hypocritically).
The VB3's will be staying for a very long time yet though, well after the "build" is finished. No way I'm going to be rid of them before the paint job, long after. Got to see what I've been working towards this whole time come together before I unbolt it apart. I've picked up quite liking to the zToy front bar recently, most particularly to the way the lower lip is uniform in height all the way around (as opposed to stepped on the factory bar) and in turn the extra FMIC flow. What I really DON'T like is the way it sticks out in front of the wheels. Pretty much begs for side skirts (no thanks) so I'd probably have to modify it. Doesn't matter anyway, won't be purchasing in any foreseeable future.
On topic of the front bar... I had the same issue when I test fitted my BOMEX front bar... being fibreglass I didnt really want to mess around too much with it but I actually made a bracket to pull in the sides so they dont stick out as much (asking for sideskirts like you said) and it turned out pretty good. didnt take pics though and being sprayed in highbuild mustard primer I said "no thanks" for a while yet. Not sure what long term effects of putting strain on a FB front bar would be but I can't imagine it would be good especially since I was effectively removing all of the flex from the bumper (crack much?) And yeaaaah that abflung rear looks like a duck trying to take a shit As for the rims, I think it would look awsome - I seem to remember seeing a certain ferrari in a similar style that you posted? inspiration? Would you be deepening the rear dish like those HRE wheels?
Is there a reason you chose to use a T instead of a Y piece here? Does it fit behind the engine better? The system now looks like this epic CAD drawing I just knocked up right? No damper but that could easily be plumbed in if wanted? Only now after looking at pictures of my engine bay before I dismantled everything do I realise how much that tidies up the top of the engine with the solid pipework gone. Plus a performance bonus, nice one!
It's not that it's flexing out or anything similar, it's the design - it's simply pointy at the rear corners. The OEM 2k spec front bar has much more rounded corners. Doesn't flow without side skirts. Dish on all four corners would be as high as possible, probably 4" or so front and 5.5" rear, something like that. Also, your face looks like a duck taking a shit. Your CAD drawings are much more developed than mine. That's pretty much what it looks like, but I did use two Y pieces not just one - mustn't have been clear enough in the post. No damper no, it's pointless. You could plumb it in if you so desired, adds two more clamps to the system though.
five car garage with lift just wanted to put something up about my new "garage" set up - some of you may have noticed the ramps my car was on in the last few photos. I knocked them up a fortnight or so ago. the third car port space at my new place has a sizeable (15cm) drop onto the third spot, so I made full use of the situation and simply extended the height to the end of the space. I can now drive straight out and slip a full size trolley jack right underneath anywhere on the car front end work is also super easy now since the front bumper is at chest height. killer. -A
No, unfortunately. It still hasn't arrived. Not entirely happy about it but I'm working through it with Matt @ Driven Authority.
