nistune ahhh 200dollars or so. You need a stock ecu that is socketed (you can change chips in it) maybe 300dollars. Then a tune about 500-700.

Check out Www.nistune.com. It explains. Pretty much instead of a chip, you fit this whole mini board into the socket, and it lets a tuner tune your car much better and easier.

Good part about tuning is it 1. Changed everything to make a bit more power as opposed to economy. 2. Any mods you have will make the stock ecu not ideal. I.e. Maps and air fuel ratios will be off slightly. The more you mod, the worse it gets. Pretty much tuning makes it ideal for your setup again. Runs better, more power, more responsive.

My nistune is still sitting in my room, and ive never had a tune, but this is what ive gathered from others advvice and reviews.

Downside to a tune is: if you decide to mod anything in the near future everythings starts to get rough again. Thats why im holding onto mine for a while before i fit it, i have a few more plans in the next few months.

Also- youre car has to be in perfect nick mechanically before you tune it. You dont want an air or exhaust leak, or a dodgy sensor when you get it tuned. Becuase itll tune for this dodgy state. Also why im holding off till i get everything fixed 100% :p

    For an NA:
    # about a 10% power increase.
    # better fuel economy.
    # take advantage of today 98 Octane fuel compared to 91-95 when zed first came to ozz.

Note. Stock ecu floods the engine with fuel when under load robbing power.

Thanks guys :) well my fuel economy is up Sh!t creek anyway, i only get 320kms to a full tank (Grandma) driving too, i am going to look further into "Blowing up my engine" to check for boost leaks ect and i am going to get rid of my recirc valves because i know they leak, i try not to drive it often. So if i take it to Boostworx in Adelaide they will do all the socketing and soldering ect? or is it something i need to do myself? thanks for the quick reply guys!

lol wtf man, only a stupid tuner wouldn't notice that, normally they can tell if you got a dodgy sensor or air / exhaust leak by how its running and when they monitor it before and during the tune :p

Dual intake you might wanna get a selin kit from CZP (conceptzperformance) but if you are running stock turbo's you dont need dual intakes anyways (and it will be hell crowded behind a FMIC)

Short answer yes it will give you more power, smoother and better throughout the entire rev range also, and better on fuel too, depends how good your tuner is also :p

I'd recommend Envy Imports in Sydney.

yeah but they wont tune it while its not running right and ive been told from two different places when asking for quotes to make sure theres nothing wrong with the car before i bring it in. I was told to fix everything, then call them back when its ready.

Other thing i have been meaning to ask, when you get the tuner to get the car all running sweet.. would it pay to get it tuned between summer and winter? because of the weather? dencity of the air ect?? just thought i would put it out there :)

unless you own a dyno there is no point buying a nistune board or the tuning software at all considering no dyno shop is going 2 let you tune your own car on there dyno.

get it tuned via one of your local tuners, burn onto chip and install into the ecu

before going and purchasing one speak to the shop you are going to get it tuned at. usually they do a package price for drive in drive out inc nisstune and installation etc. for me for example the shop ill be getting it tuned at with nisstune was only charging a bit more than what the last group buy sold the nisstune for. factor in, installing it etc etc not even worth bothering with purchasing it yourself; drive in drive out...

sounds to me like your o2 sensors are dead, get a conzult hooked up to your car and see. That will explain your shitty fuel usage

I reckon winter would technically be better and so would getting it tuned at some place around sea level (as the air is denser), but to be honest i don't think thered be that much of a difference during the tuning - especially if youve got a TT with big SMIC's/FMIC

Thanks guys, I have conzult but i dont understand it well enough, basically all i brought it for was to find fault codes.. and since then reading up about it, it can do heaps more things!! i got a knock sencor fault, so i replaced the clip (We all know how bad they can get!) and now its all sweet :-D how would i know if an O2 sencor is stuffed? would it make a fault code? on the main daig page, it shows the O2 sencors pulsing, is this normal? what else should i look for before coming to a conclusion that its just a thirsty car?

Best to get the car tuned during the hotter months as if its tuned on colder months it might ping when it starts to get hot.

Isn't the AFM responsible for taking care of this?
