What do you want to achieve? Handling, power, looks, comfort, maintenance? Each category has it's own list for $1500. And if you say a bit of everything, then you need to find some more coin. $1500 won't spread over those very well.

its not about being quicker at all, a front mount does not essentially meant more power, its about being able to safely raise boost levels while being able to take away the extra heat produced, its about being safe, and having safe inlet temps

a mate of mine ran 19-21 off a high flowed t3 turbo i sold him a few years back with a standard side mount intercooler on an rb20det, went like a rocket, but melted a piston quick smart from high inlet temps burning the fuel(took about 6 months for it to start showing signs, loosing power/compression)

    maybe the japtek sidemounts?

Yeah i know that mate, in the case of the 300zx, i dont think stock turbo's at 15 or even 17 psi overwhel the standard coolers. Thats from my personal experience with several cars.

*burning the fuel* isn't right. But the idea is right. Higher combustion temps, especially if he kept his foot down for long periods, would lead to detonation due to pressure spikes and pre-ignition due to hot spots. Fuel won't ignite or burn from hot air, it needs an ignition source. It was cylinder temps, and detonation that chewed his motor out.

On that note, with stock turbo's IC's should be upgraded for boost pressures above 12psi, 14psi at the max.

Ive got one of those ebay fmics from kgmotor and theyre top quality. Comes with everything you need to bolt it up and with a slight fiddle of the pipes, no dramas.

Here is the basic mods i would do with a stock Z in order so whatever bits you already have just ignore:
    - Pod
    - Exhaust
    - Boost (EBC or MBC)
    - FMIC/SMIC
    - Coilovers
    - Tune

PS Got a temp gauge? Definate must for a zed imo!

Ok cool i just got a email back from kg motors too, that might be the gooer

    Yep,2nd that.

An accurate linear temperature gauge that lets you know when things are heating up, (like the one in the pic's) should be high on any zeders list off first things to do.

ok ok, so i have a front mount on order and the hard pipes, reason being i don't believe my intake temps were very good due to the small opening in my veilside bar for air.

Hopefuly it works out for the better and colder...

anyone have a pic of a vielside bar with FMIC on it?

good to see stopping and handling wasnt high on the list of priorities then,no twisties for you lol :bash::)

That would be all good and well, but what can i possibly get for 1.5k, not much unfortunately... hopefully Christmas bonus will come in and then ill defiantly look into that side of things

Wouldn't it make more sense to remove bodykits if deemed to be affecting performance instead of spending more money to compensate for it? Or am I crazy? :)

Rubbish, on an old zed, $1500 can buy you a shit load, and will handle better then alot of "coilover" setups for more money. Find another $1000 and get a good shock and spring combo and your laughing.

Better brake pads all round = $300
    Master cylinder brace = $100
Front and rear sway bar = $400
    Front Strut brace = $300
    Master bushing kit = $300

    = $1400

Stock stopping and handling abilities aren't THAT bad.

Master bushing set is nearly $1k to install if you can't DIY...

maybe if you drive like a granny :D
upgrade suspension ,rotors and pads, whack a chili brace on,good fluid and flush,go to the twisties on a hard run and youll notice they were not much good before
personally,i think the standard stock setup is quite poor
