Car looks great as it it is. Some te's or xd's would finish it off with a phatt/aggressive look. I hate the 2k front bar looks soft and ugly but thats my opinion.

Nothing wrong with people having different opinions on things :)

Thanks for your feedback. Still have no idea which direction I'll take with new wheels, but it will be a while off yet. Just need to get the engine in sooner rather than later.

I'm actually with him, I thought I'd like the 2k better but that other bar looks MUCH better imo.

I would say Im more humble than most considering many others and apparently from the literature you've provided normally have something negative to say in regards to me personally or my work.

Im still confident that those heads would have worked as is but just needed a different intake gasket. Its not uncommon to run a custom intake gasket on a set of race heads that are modified extensively. On some heads I go through and modify the stock gasket to suit as well but this situation I ported the heads differently for better fuel dispersion and mixture motion.

Should I of maybe held back some on the flange alteration..yea maybe I could have but I was aiming to give Jono the best he could get for the dollar he spent. Ive yet to date had a cylinder head sealing problem but none the less theres always that one instance that could occur. But I fully back my assemblies and make it a priority to ensure my customers are confident in what they have purchased.

As for not posting much anymore, well I am married now, i'm 3 times as busy in the shop and my aerospace job is running triple time. No ones evading or ignoring anything to any customer. I've been in contact with Jono daily if not every other day discussing random matters as well as his engine and car setup. I told Jono if he wasn't comfortable with the way the heads were as is that I had no issues paying to have them resolved there locally but that I was confident they would seal if detailed out the way I wanted them done. He was still a little worried and that was ok. I'd rather have my customer taken care of and have them keep their peace of mind no matter the circumstance than feel taken for. I've never once neglected any Aussie member or Aussie build whatever the reason and continue to support my Aussie members and customers as I do all other customers. I just rarely have time to discuss matters much anymore on a public venue. Being a one man crew, working my standard job, having a family and just recently bought a new house and have been dealing with getting settled in has take a lot of me.

Bottom line though is that from the first inception of what Jono was worried about I was more than willing and stood behind what it needed to make him happy and comfortable.

you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

Just curious why you would open up the intake port entry so much.?

Definitely not needed for flow..(you can get over 270cfm without doing that)

Trying to make it more of a open venturi design? but you still have the series 1 plenum with narrow tunnel?

There are various reasons why I opened that flange area up. One was for venturi area as I wanted a better mixture motion (stated above) for fuel dispersion. I want the injector in the intakes path directly and I wanted the area of air/volume to mix more violently. I modified the lower plenum as well to work in conjunction with that flange change. I also changed the roof line of the intake port as I wanted to push the airflow in a slightly different direction in the port for a better approach to tumble.

I don't port for CFM but rather CFS and I only pay attention to 3 key elements on a FI cylinder head. For a forced induction application, reaching for a flow number is honestly a big waste of time. Some will disagree and that is ok....I have my theory and procedures that I know work as do others on how they want to setup their systems/setups. No harm no foul...to each their own so to speak.

Years ago we tested a few theories out on the engine dyno on a few different turbo engines and what we found that the modifications we did worked well. Some of those I listed above are some of those modifications we tested so I took what I know and applied it to these heads.

Got the Z out of the garage and took it for a quick spin around the block. It turned a LOT more heads than usual, probably due to having no front bumper!

    Ghetto spec:

To me it looks like the front wheel is floating in the air haha.

Couple pics of the condition under the wing (which I've decided to keep):

Between the two types of white you have had on your zeds, which do you prefer?

The 2+2 was painted in Japan & it is a very classy off-white. My partner preferred it as it was different to your average white car. Me personally though prefer the slicktop's bright white & the pearl looks great in certain light (is a b!tch to match though).

Is it the Z S2 white pearl? Or something a bit custom?
Are they both actual Nissan colors?

Slicktop is factory arctic pearl white (QNO). No idea what the 2+2 is.

Wouldn't a flow number be relevant in high RPM and large turbo applications?

  14. tassuperkart

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

In a natuarally aspirated performance engine, that would be relevant but in forced induction, gasflow behaves differently and is far less affected by apparently bigger flow numbers which are almost universally done at around 10"Hg vacuum.

Gasflow entry angles and behaviour immediately preceeding and around the valves into the cylinder is more important.

moving house? does that mean your losing the big garage?

I don't think it is as long, but it's a double and I don't plan on parking other cars in it. Ceiling isn't as high which sucks, but hoping I might be able to push it in and out when roof clearance is required.

Reason for moving is due to family growing & having to up size. Big garage was always a must on the list of things. Level driveway was also on the list, but I had to compromise on that. Not sure how the Z will go yet.

Quick update while I'm here. I've sorted the surface rust on the hatch.

Going to put the wing back on hopefully in the coming days.

Biggest age gap you'll find in the Z32 family. 1989 slicktop next to 2000 slicktop.

Been a while since a update, so here goes it :p

Been told the heads are finished, but waiting for the intake manifold to be done. Sweet baby Jesus they have taken their sweet F'ing time!!! Lucky I'm in no immediate rush due to move house still, but they don't know that!!! Never again will I have work done there with this experience.

Here is a pic of the heads prior:

Here is a pic I was messaged. I have a lot more confidence in this sealing now :)

Also received a few deliveries recently. The first being a large order of silicon hoses to replace all the factory rubber hoses on the new engine. Went with black as I plan to keep this engine somewhat subtle.

Yesterday I received the long anticipated TwinZ gear :zlove:

Fitment for these items is spot on, which is a very nice change after all the modifying it took to fit the ducts in the Stillen bumper.

Lastly this morning I received a box from Charles @ Powertrix. Haven't opened it yet but hoping to find a pair of front tension rods and rear upper control arms in there.

Also in my other thread on Stillen Sports Wing, I have decided to at least in the short term go wingless. So it's going to be an expensive visit to the bodyshop needing work front and rear.

Good to hear about the lip fitting well. This is what i want to do when i get my 2k bar. Was thinking about painting it the same colour as the body too, to look a bit different. Will you be keeping yours black?
