    Hi Nigel,

That plan was very short lived. I had a sourced a brand new 3rd brake light locally months ago. Was going to collect it this Sat but the seller accidentally snapped it in two removing it from the box last night to have a look at it.

That & the extremely expensive quotes I'm getting for paint I'm back to square one, putting the Bomex wing back on.

That's my biggest fear. There goes a few hundred dollars.

What type of repray were you getting quotes for Jono? Closed door or engine out full distance?

I've been getting quotes for painting front bumper, front lip, fog light ducts, nose panel, bonnet & blending front guards (pearl). Also welding in the holes in the hatch & respraying. Quotes thus far are between $2,200 & $3,000.

Due to the ridiculously fragile 3rd brake light snapping in two, I will re-install the Bomex wing & at least save a bit of coin in doing so.

It's the "getting it right part" that's expensive... Have been discussing paint for my bonnet, done off the car it'd be about $300 but as you said adjacent panels need to he blended etc and it very quickly adds up...

There must be another option for your wing/brazilian, can you not just order the infill panel via nissan? Or why not try the subtler winfactory option, like anti's but slightly less extreme when seen in profile. Or go a kaminari (mine or get one of the other variations) & it'll look like the white slicktop in your wing thread.
It's those damn cut outs in the end of the bomex wing, where the high rise wing is meant to fit to it, it just looks like somethings missing when run by itself. Maybe you could get it modified to fill in the holes?

You don't need an infill panel if you use a twinZ spoiler.

All of the above costs more money. I do not have any & won't for some time. If I stick the Bomex back on, it can always be changed later :)

yeah fair point Jono, as you say best option for now as all the holes are covered up & no paint required then can revisit down the track if you choose

Jono, what's involved in attaching the twinz lip to the bottom of the 2000 spec front bar? Is it just holes and bolts?

    Cheers

    Hi Mark,
I haven't attached mine as of yet, but yes it is just a matter of drilling through lip and bumper and securing with nuts and bolts.

I went on a body-shop pilgrimage today. Stopped off at 4 different places & got a good vibe from two. Only one gave me a quote while I was there, the others I am waiting to hear back from via email.
The quote is for spraying the front end (bumper/lip/ducts/blending guards) & also for welding up the holes in the hatch and respraying. I'm stupidly considering a full respray, but we'll see.
I spent this arvo cleaning up the hatch. Who ever installed the Bomex wing put tape on the outside of the hatch holes and silicon on the inside. Total overkill and a major pain to clean, but ready for what ever direction I decide to go :)

Sorry if I missed it, but damn I can see why you were worried about those heads sealing. How did they fix that, was extra material welded in?

Yep extra material welded to the outside of the ports. Having the same done to the intake (lower) plenum. I can't wait to get it all together and in the car running.

So after talking about the options with some wise men, the smartest thing right now is to just have the front bumper, lip & ducts painted. As previously mentioned the quotes I've been receiving to paint the front half (bumper/lip/duct/bonnet/guards), plus have the hatch resprayed is thousands. I would rather put it off for a few reasons:

    • Have child number 2 due at the end of the year.
    • Moving into a new house in a few weeks, double mortgage.
    • Still need to spend money to get new engine in and running.
    • If I'm going to spend thousands on paint, may as well save for a full respray.

The painters I've spoken to say white pearl is one of the hardest to match/blend, hence the reason it is so expensive. Plus I'm a picky bastard and would much prefer to spend more and have the car all one colour :)

So I will have the bumper & bits painted very soon & refit the Bomex wing. Then concentrate on getting the built engine in ASAP & running. Then re-access where I am at as far as bodywork is concerned.

I tried to get a pic of the paint finish, but it is very hard to photograph. The paint code is QNO which is arctic metallic pearl (3 layers).

At least the Stillen front bumper has been corrected, but the bonnet vents and wing will stay for a little while longer.

    I see and I bet!

What ecu/turbos/injectors are you going with? Predicted output and who's tuning it?

Nistune/GT2860RS/Nismo 740cc. Not really after a number, but 400rwkw would be nice. Having it tuned by a guy I know who own's GT Garage.
Here are some of the fuel components I have:
