I don't hate the stillen front, but I also don't love it. It definitely works better with side skirts. Let me just say that there are some body style changes already in the works, so watch this space.
Looks overdone to me. Ive looked long and hard in various pix and spent significant time gazing at Jonos car and come to the conclusion that the Stillen bar does not seem to sit well with white. To me, this thing is too low and those skirts look like they have been fabb'd up from several different types and superglued together...yuk. Then behind the rear wheels.... stock....... Must have ran out of money at that stage? White is a colour that screams out subtlety to me. This car appears confused as to whether to be sleek and businesslike or scream out hooligan..... Just me tho. Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder!!! E
id rather eat a bag of my own vomit then fit those skirts to any zed !! there rice spec junk !! keep your 2k zed classy dude 2k the front bar and no skirts !! get with the program sim !!!
Say what?! How do I get with the "program" when you don't even know what my plans are? Just worry about your own Z, I got this covered :br:
Yeah agreed. It's a nice car but the kit still looks like it's "put on after", and the bar although not bad, just isn't working IMHO. I wouldn't normally comment as we all know that it's personal taste, but the 2K car is a unique opportunity.
I think a lot of you forget I bought it this way. I haven't chosen the cosmetic styling. I don't feel obligated to do anything to it what so ever. I am going to do to it as I please I do appreciate peoples feedback, don't get me wrong. But I don't let others personal taste influence my decisions.
Over-ported & can't use stock gaskets. Not enough surface on the ports to seal with custom gasket. Currently having material welded to the outer edge of the intake ports and the intake plenum. Then the plenum is being port matched and custom gaskets will be required.
I'm going to take that as a , "Yep, I agree Erik, I won't bastardise my zed with those skirts." Good work :zlove:
Just a couple pics I took over the weekend. Thought I'd better take some snaps as the front end will be receiving a face-lift soon.
Hi SIM300...do you have a pic of the over porting....doing my heads and plenums at the moment and hoping I have not done the same.
Hi antman, check out the pics in post #16 HERE. There is a pic of the heads mounted to the block and you can see the issue.
Lol would you ship your motor back to America so they can fix it? It's not a massive deal to get fixed here, just a headache that no one needs.
Hi Eric, hope things are improving for you & the family. Mitch has agreed to pay for the repair work (he doesn't frequent the forum much). The engine you speak of for customer in QLD was shipped with mine, so yes he has it. Unfortunately I have been delayed further waiting for the heads to be repaired. I really hope it all pays off & the long anticipated wait to get the engine in & running is worth it.
Thanks SIM300....I see the problem there...I have not gone that far and can still use the stock gasket. Cheers
Small update. Though I didn't hate the Bomex wing, I didn't love it either. So I decided to remove it. There were 4 bolts securing the wing/spoiler. 2 on the bottom edge that were easy to undo & 2 either side of the third brake light location that were a b!tch. They were rusted and seized. Long story short, I ended up having to use brute force and broke the securing nuts that were enclosed in the wing out. Couple pics: Looking up at the open hatch, you can see the 2 problem bolts either side. Close up of one of the b!tch bolts There is surface rust and loss of paint around one of the bolt holes. I plan to have them (and rear wiper hole) welded up. Still not sure if I will put the wing back on or not (using the two edge bolts only). I have a third brake light I can install, but I don't want to be like every other man & his dog with a '99 fascia and brazilian hatch. Still have to decide what I'm doing there. You might also be able to spot a standard bonnet against the wall. So there are some visual changes on the horizon, just need to nut out a few small details.
