i remember that day, it was last saturday, i actually met up with the guys before heading off for other places i had to be at. It was a nice sunny day is all i can say... And it sucks to hear about it, i only just found out tonight, was a great looking car prior to said incident :zlove:
Thanks was nice meeting you hopefully you can come along on the next cruise? I need a ride ;P I'll get mine back on the road, the amount of time, money and effort I've put into that z is enough to make it priceless to myself and I cant just walk away from it now. Weather was not a factor as you can see in the photos.
i can tell the future lloyd.. i meant disasterpiece, same shit different name. how ironic, i new member and also a shit talker. what advice did i give? i clearly remember saying "hope speed wasnt a factor" you noob. :bash: get back into your hole. heaps of hidden damage, shes gone. new zed time my friend!
Its TT it does have hicas, the chassis isn't stuffed as I said earlier.... doesn't anyone read anything?
So Airstyle's car will be OK? hahaha... J/K man.. [TIS] (keep us updated btw... I don't want to see another broken Zed)
Insurance called and they're paying to fix it with new parts from Japan, I'm going home today and I'll call tomorrow to find out exactly what parts and if it can be towed to A2Z.
I could be completely wrong but maybe the hicas couldve malfunctioned causing the rear end to swing out all of a sudden? I think something similar happened to ZDUCTIV a few years ago.
The HICAS moves the rear wheels but a few degrees. I can feel it on mine when it cuts in and out during corners, but it is easy to counteract/adjust for.
I haven't seen the car since the day of the crash I've been away in Sydney, it had crossed my mind tho. I'll see whats up with it tomorrow.
So im not happy with the shop thats repairing the Zed they arent a specialist shop at all... They want to replace ONE fog light or I assume they they mean foglight they cant say. Both are stuffed but no lets replace one.. Also they want to replace one shock absorber and possibily the spring, now wont this ruin my ride height since the other 3 are 20yrs old and sagged? They're also doing the engine...I did not agree to this
The way it works nowadays is the insurance assessor will look at the car and quote the repairs, its not the shops decision what to repair and what to leave... You will most likely have to have words with your insurance company..
According to my policy book, quotes are given by the selected repairer to my insurance company and I'm allowed to get quotes from a selcted shop as well. My misunderstanding is that I would have been able to get a qoute from a body shop and from a mechanic to handle that side of it, as I'm not very confident in a smash repair shops ability to repair my engine.... Sadly I was away in Sydney and was not able to get quotes even if I were allowed by them to have it taken all the way from the Gold Coast to Eric in Brisbane. What annoys me most is they knew I was away and yet authorised this smash repair shop to begin work. Things listed under Removed/Replaced. Which i assume is just removed and inspected for damage include my Z1 $1500 intercoolers and custom hoses with T bolt clamps which are not listed as insured and there for imo should not have been touched they belong to me. Not to doubt everyone out there but I dont like strangers pulling apart my car.... Things like the high pressure power steering hose which blew upon impact and sprayed fluid 1m in the air they had no idea about. I did they said when its done if im not happy to call them. All in all I'll just have to see how this plays out, I really did want a zed specialist to handle the engine/suspension tho. Should all be done by Friday, believe it or not.
That sucks, totally understand that, i wouldn't want a body shop to touch anything apart from the body. Probably not much you can do about it other then let em know when if your not happy. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you.
panel / paint shops dont touch your engine / suspension anyway. when ever we get a car that has a ****ed engine we just work around it and then get that sorted by a mechanical shop later on, if it doesn't drive we push it around the shop. im sure most panel and paint shops would do the same, unless of course they have qualified mechanics to fix mechanical problems. the worst we do is remove engine parts that are in the way of replacing body parts, for example, to replace a radiator support, obviously we would remove the condensor, radiator, front mount cooler, and anything else in the way.
