Cos under the throttle cover isnt polished, a budget decision Plus theres all wires and crap under it
most impressive, indeed, stu .. you are doing great stuff .. but beware .. you will be getting THE BARON a little put out ...!!! lol...  :bash: :bash:
Wow Stu, that look stunning! Did you re-paint the cam backing plate, or just clean it up? Looks very reflective in the pics. Can't wait to see it all back together :zlove: Jono
ReWind..... Something I should have done before I put most of the shiny stuff back on was a Compression Test but I couldnt do that till I had finished the wiring. Anyways I got the gauge out today and gave the motor a few cranks for each cylinder. The results are shit .. (mind you its the 1st time ive ever done a compression test) 1 - 110 2 - 165 3 - 110 4 - 110 5 - 105 6 - 185 (WTF) So this begs the question.. What the hell do I do now ? HEPL!
Yea thanks Lloyd I did do it multiple times on each cylinder but the battery was starting to go flat by the end of it.
Also remember Stu your car has not been started for ages as well... Been sitting there for a few months... Plus i am guessing you did it while its cold and not at op temp like you are sopose too...
Yea youre right, so i guess theres no way to test it till I put it all back together. Good news is I just tested my other Zed at operating temp and its compression is 1 - 177 2 - 170 3 - 175 4 - 168 5 - 180 6 - 169
Yea i got a bit paranoid when I saw the comp figures.. The Silver one isnt turning over very well I think the battery has carked it
just had a quick re-read of this thread, i hadnt seen the updates that you had previously posted must of missed this thread...i love the progress work and pics id second Zanjara, get your car finished and running...do a compression test after a few days....then go from there... when you pulled the lower plenum out did you take out the det sensor or just replace/fix the actual plug/wire...if you did take it out hopefully you grounded it properly, alot of times the block is painted and the paint should be stripped back where the det sensor sits as the det sensor is grounded through the block...but i guess the bolt holding the det sensor down is grounding itself that way.... any update pics? keep up the good work
Heres the latest Chad I remade the det sensor loom. I grabbed a length of shielded COAX cable and wrapped it in a split loom then heatshrinked the full length of it. I used a new Injector plug for the sensor end, I still have to find a nice plug for the other end. All the wiring is done, the orange wire at the front is in case I want a AM Temp Gauge, havent decided which gauges I want yet. Heres some updated pics In order to keep a tidy Plenum I ran all the wires underneath.. Time will tell if that was a bad idea but I think it looks great  In any case its pretty easy to whip the plenum off with nothing on top of it cept the fuel lines. Keep an eye out for my next update.. "How to make a Hicas Solenoid Look sexy" haha
It looks good so far Stu with the black engine bay and all the bling bling bits wanna change my battery lead? hehe
ohhh shittttttttttttttttt its looks very sexual there just hard wire the det sensor into the loom...no need really for a plug... how to make a hicas look sexy? cover it with a stainless plate like wizard , although interested to see whats to come from yours it does look very clean with out the wires hanging over the plenum, lets just hope there are no problems with wiring in the area great progress keep us updated with pix
Im bringing Sexy Back Without a doubt the ugliest thing in a TT engine bay is the Hicas Solenoid. You have 2 choices.. Get rid of it or hide it. I decided to paint mine black on black and accent it with chrome. Now your looking more at the shiny stuff than at the ugly dirty sausage.. PS I Hate the way photos make everything look crap it looks hot in person..
