I have moved but some of my mates havent so if i want to see them i have to drive out there and as for B buy a truck i have a nissan partol but the idea of owning a car like a z is to enjoy it on the open roads so thats why i want to take it when i go and see my mates

as for the idea with the old fuel in the system all i have to do is run on the safe map for 1/2 tank with optimax and then top it up and it will be all good

You guys are just foolish to risk DETONATION simply to save a couple of dollars at the pump, it's as simple as that but hey it's your car! Just dont try and convice other people that this is a good thing for your motor because it most certainly isnt.

  3. Benny_C

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    correct with detonation..

That is the exact point that Karl is trying to eliminate, a SAFE 91ron tune that will NOT DETONATE on 91 fuel. Obviously no one will put a chip in their car knowing it may still detonate with that fuel in it. - and it WILL be fine for our engines as long as the tune is correct. No harm done at all.

Karl will get this tune to a point where it runs SAFE on 91 ron fuel, just like any Aussie released car before he hands them out.

K-zed's tune is for 95RON & I've run 91RON ok for ONE 70L tankful. Test was during summer ambient temps @ 14psi - minor detonation occurred during full boost. Off-boost no problem. Next tankful of 95... all good. :p

Karl... your r & d will pay off despite those detractors who cannot see outside the square. :D :zlove:

Yeah and hopefully he includes a dyno pull with that to see how much HP was lost, and hopefully he's running a knock sensor aswell as anyone else doing this mod as some detonation is inaudible to the human hear.

Any tuner should know that Tune A) on one car, wont be exactly the same as Tune A) on another and isn't exactly something I'd like to gamble with when it comes to detonation.

But k zed your foolish for running 91 ron remember...

We also need to go out and buy 2L trucks to get around... Pitty how some 2L motors use 95ron and not 91ron...

Go run your car on E10 fuel and see how it goes then....

People that can't see outside the square need a good kick in the teeth and told to wake up to themselves.... If everyone didn't look outside the square there would never have been any advancement in motors and so on

This "seeing out side of the square" talk is stupid, it's nothing even to do with that... It's about running the recommended fuel for your application, and the problems associated with not doing so ESPECIALLY for turbocharged vehicles. The tune is NOT going to be the same for every single car it's applied to unless it's done so at such a conservative level power loss will be extreme...

Call me stupid? I can live with that  Only a dickhead would call Karls development stupid :p It's not ALL about POWER.

Read what was written buddy... You might get an understanding of what was said...

And no two tunes are going to be the same as well as two cars are not the same we know that... But you dont even understand what is going on... Your off in your la la land and not even reading what has been said by others you are blinded by your own words and can only see what you write...

If people did not think out side that square which you live in there was be no advancement what so ever in todays motors... Get the idea now or do we have to put it in bold so you can read it with your coke bottle glasses since you cannot even understand something so simple...

No one is going to totally listen to you at all because you are trying to tell others who go out in the world and do things and do R n D which you don't seem to do at all...

Tell me something when your on the highway traveling at 100kms 110kms do you want high level HP no you don't you want to be able to drive so your getting more kms to a tank of fuel not chewing it up because you have a high HP car... Some of us are not into HP it seems your a dyno queen and i can tell you this much the bullshit stops at the track... You can have all the HP in the world but if you yourself cannot drive to make the numbers that the HP is sopose to make then thats the problem not the tune not the car or the amount of HP it has...

I suggest you get off your soap box and step into the real world and read what has been said so far and read 90TTZ's other thread about the tunes... He is a very smart guy and like what has said he tuned his own car which alot of people cannot do can you? He has gone so far to try and help out people who do alot of highway driving and driving between towns that do not have 98ron... Even if they have 91 putting that in and putting in octane booster all the time it is going to foul up your 02's as well as your cats as they are lead based... Hance the reason why at drag nights high powered turbocharged cars do drop the cat and are running fuel like c16 to gain more HP... Its only the 1/4 mile the car is not always driven on the road let along doing 500kms of driving at 100kms or 110kms... And one last thing the cars you see running downt he 1/4mile have had huge amount of $$$ put into them to run the numbers and are trailer queens...

No advancements? This is going to make everyone slower, talk about no advancements!

I'm not saying he's not a smart guy, I'm saying if you want good fuel economy then dont drive a turbocharged V6!

    Oil and Gas

Firstly, I don't profess to be an expert but being an Elec Engineer I have worked with some Oil and Gas Engineers in hazardous area stuff, explosive environments. I was talking to one of them about the 91 V's higher octane thing and he told me about the manufacturing process. So, this is what he said in a nutshell, higher octane fuels have been filtered more for impurities, also have had cleaning detergents added. If you look at burning fuel in an engine, burning fuel with impuriteis, you can get abnormalities in the burning process ie, cold spots where impurities won't burn, uneven burn and even scarring then it stands to make sense. The detergents are there to keep injectors, fuel lines etc clean. So I changed over about 2 years ago now and haven't looked back, would never put 91 in either of my cars again after seeing the improvement in performance if I could help it, understand some people can't get access to higherr octane fuel. Having said that, performance in both my cars on the highway has been as much as 25% better fuel economy but you pay up to 15% more in price. So, my stance is even if it doesn't pay for itself in extra km's, my engines are not being subjected to as much damage through the burn process, the fuel system is being kept cleaner plus the performance improvement has certainly paid for itself. My second car is a hilux dual cab ute, 2 wheel drive.

Yeah oooooooooo k then... Ever thought about how you drive the bloody car? Again you didnt read what was said... I think we need the bold marker out... When your driving on the highway you want good fuel economy in which 90TTZ is going to test on his 18 hour trip from townsville to brisse using 91ron

You can get the same amount of kms out of a tank of fuel driving a V8 then a V6 does...

Go drive your 2L trucks and get good fuel economy and tell us how great they really are

This forum just gets so silly, it's all blow off valves, body kits and good fuel economy... Where is all the performance related discussion?

Good fuel economy is for the birds, and it's not what owning a Z car is all about IN MY OPINION which I am entitled to.

this just goes to show you dont understand what the idea of this is. Who cares if you lose power when driving at the speed limmet you use stuff all power anyway. The idea is to have a car that can run on cheaper fuel when needed or have the power on good fuel for days at the drags or on the race track

your option is like a piece of paper which has been throwin out the window and has chips on it so the birds can eat off it... Thats how much you dont listen to what was said...

When your at 100kms or 110kms on the highway your not using the power your not even in the power range... The point of the chips is what Scrubber has said...

Tell us do you have performance in your 2L 4 banger truck? you have some issues mate anger issues i suggest you clear them up and come talk to us once its done... If you do not like the idea why do you bother to post then? A couple of members have put you to shame in what they have done to there zed's yet you still keep crapping on and not even reading what has been posted...

Seems to me your a dyno/trailer queen... Car is not driven in traffic at all and if it is you like to spin the wheels at a set of traffic lights thinking your so cool racing mum's with baby's in there stock magna's

Reading this thread has shown me how diffrent each and every Zed owner is in regards to there Zed. Some people want the best of the best and at what ever the cost, some people would not dare to put there ideas out into the limelight for fear of rejection. To avoide failure say nothing ,do nothing,be nothing. Sometimes it inspiring to think out side the box a little and take in other people's ideas and thought.
