nah, its just a f'd up situation that i should have pulled the plug on months ago.

    blood from a stone man

    yeah it sucks,

the worst part is, sometimes i feel like I should be out there kicking asses because there are soo/ too many C N T S out there who will try and bend you over every chance they get.
if the zed scene was anything like a good action film, there would be a lot of dead Zed mechanics out there.

A compression test can easily be done on a zed in under 30mins by ANY competent mechanic.

the ONLY hiccup that most service centres may have would be the depth of the zeds sparkplug and the reach the tester may have........

it takes about 20mins to construct an extension tube so a std compression tested can be attatched....

so all up and worst case scenerio they should have been able to do a compression test in under an hour...... if they charge at $1000 an hour then it would have been a cheaper result for you right from the get go.

    get a test done.......

and don't be shattered when number one returns zero compression
    ;)

All that would mean is I wil have to rebuild that engine.. But at least then ill know it will work

That is just one nasty story I'm not liking to hear. Name and shame mate. That mechanic should be outed and sent a book on workshop ethics.

How long has it exactly been since the conversion was done. Surely consumer affairs could step in. Only problem now is that you've gone past the no return marker by now pulling bits off and 'tampering' with the engine.

The point of paying a workshop to install a new donk is a drive in, drive out setup. However only if you've agreed on these terms and you've not just said yeah put it in for me don't do anything extra...

If this was to happen at our workshop, we'd be all shot by now.

Anyways...let us know what you find out. Hopefully it's nothing bad :/

I put my plugs back in so I don't have to **** around with them when I'm done.

I said you can take the fuse out OR disconnect the fuel pump, I didn't say do both.

Why do comp test results go up when the engine is warm, then?

Wayne, supercheap sell a compression tester that fits the zed perfectly. It's like $50 and will take 20 minutes, less with the way your car is at the moment with no plenum and coils in the way.

I don't suppose there's anyone in Geelong that could lend me a zx spark plug remover tonight?

    None of my sockets fit.

Get a deep 16mm socket, get a spark plug socket and remove the rubber thing from inside it and gently insert it deep into the 16mm socket with one finger. Voila.

If you don't have a compression tester, it doesn't matter anyway. Go to supercheap tomorrow and get a tester, a suitable socket and an extension.

I have a tester, i bought that today. but out of all the sockets i have, i didnt have one for the zed plug -_-

    edit:

you would think a guy would give up after spending 9000 on a standard tt swap.

lost 2200 to bryan not doing it, now the rest to get what i have now and still more needs to be spent.
anger and depression just cease to exist after all this. all that remains is numbness.

It sucks dude, but you should have comp tested it before you bought it :/

Fingers crossed it's something else that's just dodgy.

    Results

    Cold Compression Test (PSi)

    Drivers side Bank:

front: 130 (no burn on plug)
    mid: 120 (water on plug o0 )
    firewall: 120

    passenger bank:

    front: 120 (after a few go's)
    mid: 118 (after a few go's)
    firewall: 113 (max after a few go's)

passenger side bank seemed to take longer to reach max comp, but not sure if that might be because i did it last and battery getting tired?

    Temp outside is 18c

passenger bank is the one blowing slight white smoke

    Conclusion?

    edit:

would it make any difference that i have the injectors out?

    no it wont .

the results are excellent for cold test .

now put the injectors back in the car as is with fuel lines connected ( for now ) dont bolt them down just sit them there , power them up ( normally ) with the injection plug , ,, take of you cass ( like take it out of the car , off the cam ) once it out and in your hand , plug it back up to the cass plug , with the ignition on , turn the cass dicky and you will hear the injection working , and it should spray out fuel . make sure you lift up the fuel rail so you can see hear the fuel come out , if it all looks good then put it back on the car bolt it down and forget about it and move on to the next thing , ,,
p.s put your fuse back in while testing injectors .
this should take you 10 15 min,.

what do you mean water on the plug ??

injectors are with Arvin getting reco'd with the fuel rail.

so my block is in ok condition. not perfect, but not F'd either!
    that's great news.

when i get the injectors back this week I'll do another test then start putting everything back together, testing as I go.

when I took the plug out, it had water on it. I thought it might have been fuel, but it felt and smelt like just water? it has good compression though. injectors are out, and I did clean the block once i got the plenum off, so maybe it was water in the hole or it crept in through the injector hole? but thats plugged.

might be nothing. compression was one of the best in that cylinder anyway.

yeah engine seems great ,( lucky you mister )

ddaaammmm i said all that for nothing lol

there is no need to test them now if arvin has them im sure they will come back working as best they can ,

when you get them put them straight on the car as in bolt them in ,, in the mean time you need to cover the engine so you dont get any shit in there

ps i suggest you go to nissan and get some new injector O rings , and a plenum gasket

when you put the injection O rings back in use vassaline on the O rings its all good flood them in vass

p.s.s when you put the injectors back in put them in slowly, you dont want to pinch the O ring .

( for some reason i felt i had to come back and say that lol p.s.s )

yeah i need to source one, I could get one from work (plenum gasket) but it would prob be just as cheap to buy somewhere else.

I think I have brand new injector to plenum o rings anyway :)

Is 112 psi really "excellent", Badxtc? I don't think it is....

Also, please explain to me if it's not expansion of the piston rings to form a tighter seal, why the test results go up when the engine is warm? Not doubting you, I'm just asking because I'd like to know, as I'd always thought it was for that reason.

well inspect them make sure . look on the inside and outside for cuts and other damage.

now that you have time on your hands , go and look at the wiring on the car and clean all the connector,( injection, coil plugs, ptu, cass )

most of all , look at the plugs inside , they may be clean but your terminals may not be touching , over the years the pins open up and does not make contact.

I found the o rings, they are new, I bought them a few months ago, so they have been sitting in the car while it wasnt running for about a month only.

I was going to look at some of the connectors, the water sensors look bad, so i might replace them. definately going to look over what I can before it all goes back together, replace whats needed.

I know i should do the clutch master while the plenum is off, but I know i won't.
