heyy all well i got my zorst fitted yesturday 2x magnaflow mufflers http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shope...in&id=9127 got it all welded 2.5" mild steel with a X-over from the cat back only problem is its louder and dronier than i expected (car is automatic tho) , worried that its to loud and i could get EPA'd lol anyone know how loud and exhaust should be decibel wise, or if no1 busy and close round wheelers hill would be cool if sum1 dropped by to check it out? cheers
I'm the same, got a full system welded up from the group buy and while it sounds absolutely awesome, it's also quite loud. Just asking for mr plod to have a look. Either way will be following this to see if the magnaflow gear does produce a leagal exhaust note or not.
i dont think my x pipe was resonated. how do u tell tho? i could see straight through it? heard your car on you tube u posted in your thread ryzan? sounds awesome apparently Zeds has to be 89db testedmine on a mates iphone( dunno how accurate) idling max reading was 88db driving-85-93db(drones a fair bit) revving 2000-6000rpm:98-100db
yeah it's like 90dB or 100dB at 3000 rpm 1m away for a 6cyl or something like that, I can't really remember but I have the document somewhere... Some X-pipes look like the UAS one, so you can't see the X and it's just 2 pipes going in and out of a muffler type body... some of them have bottle style resonators after the X crossover... My VG was pretty damn loud too before I got centre mufflers welded in.
its the loudest between 2-3000rpm lol, cant even hear my music haha drones a fair bit when driving slowly 30-60kmh, when u put your foot down it sounds really niice! i brought the tru X-crossovers 2.5" http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02xypipes.asp it does have a X look compared to the UAS muffler styled one
EPA test.... In Victoria, the car is measured at 75% peak power. In an NA that equals 4800 rpm. They measure the decibel while increasing revs, holding steady at 4800 and then decelerating. Anything over 90 decibel and you will fail. I went through this process about 4 years ago. An NA is always harder to make less noisy than a TT. I suggest you invest in a UAS centre muffler. The best thing I did for my NA in regards to noise, drone and general pleasantness to drive... Cheers
Not sure if this applies to cars to but recently our trail bike club has been tested not stationary but ride by. We have been informed that this the way it is to be done from now on as the E.P.A test rules have changed. We all just pulled the clutch in and rolled past l.o.l. We had a lot of bikes that would not have past the old stationary test but hey they can't ride our bikes so like we are going to rev it as we go past they are fools. At first we thought we were all screwed but by pulling the clutch in and idleing it was a lot quieter. The old test was sitting with it reving at 3000 so. It makes a differance dum bastards
