couldn't find anything with google, I know Dub has these, possibly others. Despite having 3" pipes leading into the mufflers, it seems to only be like 2" coming out within the huge tips. Anyone seen any pics of the internals of these mufflers? I'm thinking of hacking them up.
Hack away, weld in some cones either side, then a perforated 2 1/2 pipe, then pack with steel muffler wool. This is what I did and they are JUST legal (1 db below) BTW you just unbolt them and the old cartridge falls out. Mine were completely stuffed and rattling around so I had no option but to rebuild anyway. And while theyre out from under the car you can polish them right up :thumbsup:
ahh sweet I've had the mufflers off at one stage and it sounded better with just the resonator, not too loud either so I'll give it a shot.
bummer mine seems to be welded all round, I guess all I can try is cleaning up the that smaller baffle pipe inside the tip and see if it's welded in there.
I just did mine, although mine are twin 4" exits on each muffler They had about 1" coming out of each exit, I recently got them re-built with 2 3/4 or 3" stainless steel perf split into a Y of 2 x 2" stainless perf which can be pulled apart anytime I like. The job is flawless although it did set me back $900 the pair.
