    RE:Why do you ask

I ask, because it seems as relevent as you trying to introduce insulting comments about my one-time occupation (some 40 odd years ago, and well before you were born). Now there's a subject you're sure to know plenty about.

I'm also amazed at the level of arrogance you display, by presuming to lecture me about what you think I may have absorbed during a lifetime almost three times longer than you have been on this planet.

You give a whole new meaning to the term "the arrogance of youth".

    Hey every1,

I found out about the no more zed imports a couple of weeks ago when i went to a importer in my area the other day and he said yeh u cant import zeds anymore unless u had made a financial committment last year which he didnt so i got worried that i would have to buy a zed asap to have any chance of getting a 1 at all. Luckly i know there a a hell of alot of zeds out there for sale and im not to worried nowdays about getting one one day, and im expecting to get one within 6 months im hoping but differently have one but end of next year.

But i do have a possibalility of importer a zed this year through a connection my cuzin has. According to my cuzin a mate of his decided to get a skyline or somthing imported from japan and he said the price of cars over there are extremely cheap for 15 yr old cars. He said becuz of the cars are cheap i may as well fly over and inspect the car for myself then ship it over. He hires out one of those big metal containters puts the car in and then ships her over.
Meanwhile some of his mates including my cuzin have asked him to buy engine parts and performance mods in japan and then ship it over with the car to save every1 money, i think. So im going to get my cuzin to ask him about importing a zed from japan (a good one) and ship it over. According to my cuzin zeds go for like $500 in japan and his mate has lots of connections, he can get dodgy RWC certicates in japan to make the car importerable, and once the car is here he knows a guy who can compliance it and RWC it all at once.

Still this is a long shoot, my cuzin says he might not b able to import zeds at all but he will ask for me. Otherwise ill do it the old fashion way and my one here even a lemon if there are no zeds left by the time i can afford one.

    Future ???

There will always be zeds left when you can afford one. what you will not afford is a dodgy import that really is only worth $500.

Prices for zeds will be depressed for at least 6 months, because importers will still have legal cars for sale that were purchased by them this year [2005]. The price will stay down because of the oversupply, and also because of the amazingly bad rep that the recent 1989 and 1990 "money pits" will get once impatient buyers try to get/keep them on the road, and find out how many problems they have bought for themselves.

About the only thing that may go down is spare/used parts, as the TT that are wrecked as their incautious [ and uninsured] drivers start hitting trees:sick:.

I suspect that insurance rates will go up as well, for the same reasons.

Wait and get a well maintained one for $16,000 AUS, I wish I had

Im not getting into another debate about this

As much as u guys tell me to spend $16 grand on my first zed im not spending that much at all. $12grand max including insurance and stamp dutie. And i know exactly wat ur going to say, but thats what im going to do and i dont care what any of u guys say. Guys are selling zeds for that much just because they come with mono steering wheel and u just laugh at them. On Xmas my cuzin in geelong told me his mate sold his zed for $40000 just because he had spent $70000 on the engine alone, i mean what a lot of bullshit. I dout any of u guys would spend that much on a zed. I intend to own my zed for the rest of my life so ill probably spend $100000 in the 40 years i would have owned it so whats an extra $10000 in the long run. IM not getting into a debate about this im just glad to know i will always be able to buy a zed within the next year or so.

the only one here that hasnt a clue is CHILI ....his zed has cost

him over $ 70,000 according some posts a while back.
I told him then that he bought a lemon and has poured money into it like its going out of fashion.

Do you guys honestly think that an "expensive" ZED
is better and safer value than one that is cheaper ?

How many cars have you bought ? do you know what youre looking at ? there is an art at looking for a good car, truck etc etc and it goes far beyond how many kays its done etc, lets say the way its driven has a lot to do with it, and LUCK, yes LUCK, period.

Sorry CHILI mate, but you give it pretty good but cant take it that well when it comes your way

JC was a dropkick but you gave him ammo aplenty

First of all, you are the one introducing insulting comments and

all one has to do is look back a few posts and realise it 'was' you who introduced them before I did to you. I take what you say about uni the same way you take what I say about you being a cop, therefore, it is you who started with the insulting comments.

Judging by the way you speak about being a cop bringing up dates and it being one-time sort of looks as though you are ashamed of it or something so that isn't my problem really. I didn't want to know when it was or for how long because I simply do not care. I also do not know anything about the subject because I really couldn't give a shit what you did or have done in the past.

Before you go and open your big mouth sometimes, first think if it will offend other members as you are not the only one reading this forum. Yes, I got offended when you brought up uni students.

Arrogance? How am I being arrogant? Take a look at yourself before you judge others. Jealosy must be in the blood of 90% of you ex coppers so what is your problem? Think about it, I didn't try to lecture you, and I wouldn't try to lecture anyone unless I was a lecturer. For someone who has been here three times longer than I have, you surely don't show signs of being three times more mature than I am

I could say what you give a meaning to but I am not that idiotic to be naming terms after you.

    War Economy

That's spot on, One of the main reasons we have to preserve automotive production in this country is to become a self sufficient manufacturing power in time of war.

Oh dear that makes me half clueless

My cheap zed import (about 450 000 yen) has now approached 33k 9repairs and mods) and its sitting in the garage atm with the bonnet up trying to figure where the coolant is going

I reckon my zed has contributed more to the Aussie economy far more than any Ford or Holden I've ever owned. So perhaps the govt should allow more lemons like mine in. Hey JC can you find me a better one to support the mechanics and suppliers in Sydney?

So hang on Chili, I'm catching at a rapid rate, so for the time being I'm only half as clueless as you  whereas some others only have half the wit of you matey

    cheers

This is the official line - it is worth a read. I don't necessarily

agree with the policy, but it is articulated a lot better than some of the hysterical stuff posted here today.

If one or a group of RAWS workshops co-operate to put together and register a compliance kit, Zeds will be eligible for import again. Before putting up the money to do that they would need to be convinced of the demand - clearly no-one seems to be at this point.

    Cheers:zlove:

    RE: Can't take it.

I'm still waiting for some to come my way. Would you like to give it a whirl? Or are you still going to give me the Greengrocer advice about fruit.
BTW, I gave an itemised list of my expenditure on my Zed, and apart from a rebuilt engine (which was a direct result of bad workmanship by the turbo workshop concerned) all other costs were items that every TT owner will have to face at some point (unless the work was done prior to them buying the car).
I doubt that you would recognize a "lemon" even if one bit you on the ass, so run back to the JC Fan Club (the Club House is somewhat empty with you out here.)

RE:First of all, you are the one introducing insulting comments

I invite you to provide this forum with some evidence of my insulting remarks about Universities.
When that fails, you might try analyzing what I said concerning the fool who used his "Uni education" as some sort of proof that he had greater intellect than anyone else on this forum(Making the leap from Economics to Physiology in a single bound).
You seem to have a deep-seated hatred of Police and Policing judging by the number of times you raise the issue (you are the one who raised it in this thread, are you not?).
The chip on your shoulder is beginning to weigh you down, Paul. Get over it, you're becoming a very bitter young man.

    here is the proof.

    here is the thread

    http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/index.cfm?action=view&type=post&postid=351181

and here is what you said

It was a stupid generalization of you to make if you ask me.

What more proof do you want? It offended me, so you can stfu if you think otherwise.

So it didn't fail, so there is no need to analyze anything.

I also don't hate all police, when you put aside the fact that 90% of them are dogs, the other 5% would book their own parents it still leaves 5% who are loyal, not corrupt and good people. I personally know many officers down here in Melbourne including super intendants and some are great people.

I don't see any chips on my shoulder and if you think I am a bitter young man, then live with it because I am not going anywhere anytime soon

If you take it as sarcasm then so be it. I take it as an insult just how ma

ny europeans and asians take name calling as insults where as the ones who do it think it is funny and sarcastic. Therefore, common sense would tell you not to name call.

You don't need to be educated to understand that.
