My indicator keeps blinking a million times. I traced it back to a relay thingy located underneath the drivers side, above the pedals which clicks in tune with the indicators. I disconnected it and my indicators dont work and when i plug it back in they flash way to quick. My question is it, have i blown a fuse or is that relay stuffed? cheers
The relay you here clicking is the unit that makes you indicators flash. As Candu said, you have a blown bulb. All cars are set up this way to make the side that is blown flash twice as fast as normal so you know when one of your indicators are out of action you know which side to check. PS, I'm no electrical guru either
So when you put the LHS or RHS indicator on they ALL come on??? Sounds like an alarm installer didn't use separating diodes in the outputs to the indicators (that is if you got an alarm fitted recently). If no alarm and you have all 4 indicators flashing simultaneously then I'd be checking the hazard switch/lighting.
No - If i put the LHS then only left hand side come on but they blink quickly Same with the right hand side they blink quickly if i select turning right. All the lights are working but they are just clicking quickly.
its the flasher unit, assuming the z isnt different from any other car. it usually a simple RC network that charges and discharges through the lights, hence if a globes out it goes faster. pull it out and go get another one!
lol good on ya yeah find the thing that makes the clicking noise and unplug it, will look like a round relay, maybe square but from what i read its round... take it to somewhere like repco or other car part place and they should have a replacement for it... shouldnt cost much, 20 bucks or less i would think...
We're talking cars here Ali. Pull your flasher unit out and replace it. NO! I mean your cars flasher unit( put the other one away, you nasty little boy).
LOL This is the forum in the whole wide world lol thanks.... I just thought that it might be something besides the relay, because Mark said earlier a relay either works or it doesnt...and this works although its doing it to quicklyather then taking it nice and slow. You know what i mean>?
hmm, well you did say its both sides, and all the bulbs are working ok... so unless.. well unless you put in LED style bulbs thats the only thing that would mean you still had the lights working ok and the flasher going too fast... i think if everything else seems ok, it would logically be the flasher unit.
Yup. Flasher unit is the common denominator Replace it with a 2nd hand one from wreckers. (John from Cresta up here will have a few)
