That being said... I couldnt sell my TT with VS kit, modded off its tits mechanically for 10k :( Ended up selling it for 7.7...

Now I'm struggling to find anything even close with similar mods for even more $$... Go figure... :( Maybe I just wasn't patient enough?

If its not obvious already, I'm having a sad :p

Thats cos most are riced out pieces of shit.
When I went looking, most Z owners hadn't even bothered to vacuum their car for people to inspect. Small things like that go along way with the general public. If the spoiler is stuffed get a new Ztoy one. Tint the windows, give it a good wash and wax and make sure it hasnt got rubbish tyres and or wheels. Once all thats taken care of you'd be surprised.

Mine sat on carpoint for a good eight months for nine thousand with stock recaros, plenum pulled, 17in advan avs, stock 10 stack cd player and remote central locking. Since buying it, I've put more kms on it, but done the above and now people offer more then what it was forsale for when I bought it two years ago.

    Zeds on Carsales...

Most of the zeds I saw on Carsales when looking for my TT were riced or insanely modified cars, with stupid color interiors or horrendous body kits. It depends on what you are after I guess. I was happy to pay somewhere between $13-16 for a stock as a rock TT. In the end I found one.

Cheap isnt always bad, if it wasnt for the cheap prices I probably wouldn't have joined the community for a long time to come - but thanks to depreciation and Bryan being awesome, It's a dream within reach...so there IS two sides to the coin :)

Couldn't agree more. This absolutely isn't a jibe at anyone at all on the forum but if I was trying to sell a Zed for a 'good' price, I wouldn't bother mentioning it here... If your Zed is clean (as in well detailed) and you make some effort with your pics, someone who has probably never owned one before will come along with the dollars for it. When someone looks to buy a sports car & is prepared to pay good money, regardless of the age or model, they want it to look impressive, look expensive and drive well. If the car looks worn-out, has mechanical issues / dings and is dirty - don't expect a sports car buyer to be willing to pay much!

Within a few more years, particularly as running and repair costs for the 'worn-out' Z32's out there become unexceptable, it'll soon get to the point where the remaining Z32's still on the road will be very nice, well kept examples - and the prices will rise. Let's face it, there's only so many Z32's here and it's getting to the point where you only have to hit a wheelie bin & your insurance company will write the car off... Another few years and the cheapies will be gone!

    I agree...

I'm surprised by many of the car ads I see. Some people will clean outside and have a filthy interior. Or filthy engine bay. If trying to sell the car, it needs to be entirely spotless, including the engine bay!!

I'd like to think you are right. I've considered selling recently, but from recent good examples that have sold I wouldn't get the $$ I wan't.

Don't worry Jamie, apart from blowing up auto gearboxes as often as possible, I'm taking good care of her!

I would offer to sell it back, but I sold the NA, and I've already spent more money on it than I'd ever care to admit....

And then the manual conversion will be underway shortly, followed by leather interior, and then a full respray in a few months (if all goes to plan)! I even got rid of the 20" chromies and the VS front bar! What more could you ask for? :p

On a similar note, my NA just went for under $6k... and that was after several months, an engine pull, and an excess of love and attention. Really sad to see it go... :(

    in theory.........

in theory i agree with this, BUT, and its a big but.....ive personally been saying this for 3 years, it was true back then and its still true now, but it seems to be taking a hell of a long time!

ive personally wrecked 2 junkers, jamie (chilledpain) would have done at least 6 or 7, and i can think of another 10 odd WA people with wrecks or have had wrecks in the last couple of years..............and still every couple of months another one shows up, and the cycle continues, and all of this is just WA!!!

my point is, there sure is a absolute motherload of cheap rubbish zeds out there, thanks to the 15 year rule encompassing a good chunk of 1989 z32's i think theres a fair few left to go before "only the good remain"

As far as I see it, only another thousand or so people need to prang their zeds or get out of their league mechanically and sell off non-starting z's before our cars are actually FINANCIALLY worth spending money on :p

Everything plays a part from colour to wheels. When I started looking for a TT it had to be black and still had to have the stock wing. One I looked at they removed the wing and that was enough to stop me buying it. Once you "customize" our cars you limit your selling market, most people want a stock car with decent window rubbers, stock wing, unmodded engine and stock interior unless its a quality job.

Not to say you can "add" value to a 300zx but a new stock body parts imo are a lot better than ricing it up. Once a car is molested its not going to go up in value or be a collectors item in the future. :)

Haha I just picked an arbitrary large number Ross... It's probably more, seeing as there are 900+ "active" members on this forum alone, and we realistically only comprise a small portion of the number of people with Z's.

At his current rate I'm sure Jamie can wreck another dozen or so zeds in the next 12 months. Everyone else will just need to pick up the pace! :p

ahh, but as each year passes, the 'uncared for' Zeds all move faster & faster towards their end - this year 50 might disappear from the roads, next year it may be 100 go and the following year 300 vanish! Each year the cheapies all race closer to the point where no one would or could restore them at a reasonable cost. That's why I reckon another 3 years there will be few 'average' Zed's left - there will just be "stuffed" ones and "excellent" ones!

Unfortunately, I'm a bit more pessimistic. Look no further than the Z31 as to why I believe it'll take a little bit longer than 3 years for that to happen. ;)

Not too troublesome for those of us in it for the long haul though ;)

not trying to start a debate on this but by comparison, the Z32 overall wasn't a big seller!
