I paid $6000 for my zed, and they wanted almost $3000 a year, then plus $1000 excess... I went with fire and theft for $700 a year and as earlier stated, put money aside to upgrade or repair the car if needed (rainy day money). Also its made me a safer driver cause i know that if i crash it, I'll be up sh!t creek and swimming the whole way back without a paddle or a boat
