Has anyone purchased the Z1 RFL BOVs from the US?

I fitted mine today, triple checked all clamps and vac lines etc and went for a drive to test them. I found that the turbos just had constant compressor surge every time I boosted and let go. I later then tried boosting and let go keeping in gear. It sounded like the valve only just cracked open a tiny bit, and along with surging again, made a faint whistle.

Has anyone had any experience with these BOV's? Can I adjust them to release pressure anywhere above say 1-2psi just as the stock recircs do? It's like they are really tight.

If you know anyone who knows anyone who has them please tell me everything you know as to how I can either loosen them or adjust them so they open more freely.

    From the Z1 website:

The Z1 RFL Blow Off Valves feature an aluminum body and brass piston, adjustable tension, with exceptionally loud and distinctive blow off sound.

Looking at the picture they look like they adjust by turning them, have a look at them and work out how to loosen the pressure on them, should solve your issues they would just be set too tight.

Don't loosen too far though or they will open a bit when on boost and you will lose some power/response.

    Ok cheers once again Adam!

I guess tonight I will pull one out and have a look. I did experiment by trying to twist the top and it's a solid piece. Underneath the trumpet though on the pressure pipe fitting there is 3 grub screws. It looks like if I undo them, I could take off that bottom flange. Other than that I'm stumped as to what it could be. As mentioned the kit does come with 3 washers which look like they could possibly go in on the underside of the flange to somehow adjust it?

    The top

of the valve comes of to release the piston so it can be cleaned according to z1, so thats where you adjust the spring tension. The valve should not leak under boost if its any good, regardless of how its set, loose or tight. Take the top completely of the valve, put it back on and screw it down all the way, count how many turns it takes to do that, then screw it down half way, that should be a good starting point, you can fine tune it after that. If it still wont go of check for vacuum leaks, service it with paslode impulse oil.

take off the top, there are 3 washers inside that preload the spring. most people on the 3ZC website say to remove 2 or all 3. try removing 2 washers first and see how it goes.

Hey. Any chance you could please elaborate a little more? Do you mean the top as in up near the manifold vac hose plug? Or still below the trumpet after taking out grub screws?

yeah the top has the vac nipple on it, grab it tight when you're undoing it, the spring is pretty stiff so it might all fly away if you aren't holding it tight.

After playing around with it I found that the top half of the piston's cylinder screws off and boy does the spring have some push! Didn't slip away from me but found that I removed the extra 3 washers from inside the cylinder and replaced the spring, screwed the top back on and it blows off more freely now for sure, still seems too tight but oh well.
